Hello there,

I was wondering if you guys in here can throw in some of your results for wPrime. Only the 32m benchmark please :)

This benchmark seems to scale AMD and Intel chips a lot better than Super Pi does. For those of you that don't have this benchmark, get it here:

http://www.wprime.net/ - Please download version 1.55, runs with any other versions will not be added. Thank you.

RULES: CPU-z and the Wprime window have to be in the screenshot. Also, post what method of cooling you were using during that run.

Quad Core with HT
Gutterz - (LN2) Core i7 960 5511 MHz - 4.406
Kal-EL - (DICE) Xeon W3570 5123 MHz - 4.671 sec.

CP, might be easier for the lazy surfers if you just embed the screenies in ur posts. Unless ur just tryin to pump traffic over to techpowerup's forums from here which is fine.

Also, do you prefer to run the server intended version of wprime (2.0). Most of us run the hwbot standard wprime 1.5 for single socket desktop rigs.

Cooling = Thor's Hammer next to the a/c unit blowing atop the heatfins.

The "trick" of running 2k3, I thought that was only because by default 2k3 runs in system cache mode, whereas you have to set it in XP. I have not tried it, just supposition here.

Will get my best 32Ms posted in a minute :) (gotta find and UL the SS's)

You gotta show him what's up then, where's the friendly competition at?

BTW, I really should consider going cold now, that I have a Phenom II instead of a i7. Don't those things love the extreme cold conditions?

Yes they do indeed :)

Still wont get the crunching power you can with i7 though. I ntel has always been very good at linear processing

I agree with you, but the reason why I traded is because I think HT on a daily used PC is not the better choice. Overall the intel was very quick, but crapped at some things, gaming believe it or not was hindered a bit. YOu disable HT and you gain a few FPS's on most games I played. I think the AMD is just a better daily driver. I didnt have the money at the moment to do it, so I was able to find someone who wanted to trade. Couple of other things pissed me off about the platform, but not really significant to my decision.

WD, whats with the empty cpu description portion of wprime?
You realize that with this sorta efficiency, you could easily hit 4.700sec @ around 5050 or 5130mhz right? This puts you in the neighborhood of the world record for the 920's in wprime 32m.

I am struggling with this chip to say the least ...... have trouble getting any higher than this ....... nothing I throw at it seems to work

Still working on it but have had very limited time since I got done with my bench station as work has been nutz and working on designing and building an SS for a team mate. Hoping to have some serious time to sit down with this sub zero in February.
I can post some pics of the SS build if anyone is intrested ... it is all going to happen on the 23rd somewhere in New Jersey ... thank god for GPS

I think it is near Newark ... I would have to look on a map to see what part that is in.
But I think it is closer to New York , but hey Jersey is not that big ?

I will post pics of the build .... you will get to see myself, Gunner & DeLiMo ...
and maybee even Neuromancer if he can make it ....
I will be taking the snaps all day ... I think the camera I am borrowing may even have video

Newark is about 2 hours away. (I am down by Atlantic City)
