It looks to be an interesting night tonight! :D

We'll see what a noob can do once he gets a fair amount of cold happening.

Thx peeps, finding the cbb at around -100c.

Crappy temp monitor says -85c
Quality one says -100c

Didn't get much done in the way of solid clocks with the first 10L cannister cept for a 5.4ghz validation. But it was an interesting 7 hours. Took a few loads of LN2 to get down to a respectable -70c to -80c.

Noticed that between -80c and -115c you really need to stay on top of the pouring to keep temps within whatever range you decide on. Ran at -150c for a good bit but couldnt get bench stable (noob refusing to compromise mem timings)

You can skimp on insulation when using DICE but if you're gonna bench for more than a few hours with LN2, you'd better expect an iceberg around the socket, lol.

Don't run far in front of you're cold boot bug because its a long arse wait for temps to rise to a bootable condition. So if you plan on changing dividers, make sure you're close to you're bug cuz she'll need a power down reboot sequence which will cbb.

Also, make sure you slap some vasoline or equivilant into the first two mem slots because eventually the frost creeps that far and you get condensation in the slots. I had water in my first slot that brang a close to the bench session.

Motherboard is in the clothes dryer drying off for later ;)
Anyways, some frosty pics for the "Pic Monster" :picmonster:

Me also have all kinda problems with LN2 twice that I have benched with it, hence I stick to dice now.....you didnt even get a pi run going???

Kal-EL

Wanted to be wprime stable first before running any other benchies so no pi's were run. DICE is good because its a constant temp when loaded with DICE in the pot. But theres no way I'd get up into 5.5ghz range on DICE so I'll be figuring this one out soon enough.

And if all else fails, Monday will be a dewar re-fill.

Can you use DIce to get to max cold then start adding LN2? Like they do with LN2/LHe? Would that save some L's of nitro? OR would the solid CO2 start causing issues when you put the LN2 on top of it?

That would be a bad idea going DICE first as you have put acetone in the pot for DICE use.

Kal-EL

You could drop some DICE into the pot to start her on getting sub-zero and then follow up with the LN2. I just wouldn't recommend using acetone with the crushed DICE.

would the LN2 last longer if u use dice w/it?

Kal-EL

I'm not sure about using LN2 directly on the dice but after the dice has subliminated u could pour ln2 into the pot

Good to know LN2+acetone=bad juju.

Nice! You mentioned renting some dewars are those them? If so they need to do a lil upgrading as those look crisp. I guess as long as they get the job done. I am interested in how you withdrew the LN2. Did you pour it, scoop it out or what?

Kal-EL

rented, poured, still have a full 10L container left of the two. First one lasted about 8 hours or so.

Very nice again. You beat me to the punch. Guess that's what I get for lollygagging. :D

I will say that I am quitting my 2nd job finally on the 31st of Oct. and will be taking the following week off from my main job and going to be getting me some LN2 benching hopefully if money is willing. If not I will have to settle for DICE.
