PHILADELPHIA -
The Federal Trade Commission will require bloggers to clearly disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products.
It is the first time since 1980 that the commission has revised its guidelines on endorsements and testimonials, and the first time the rules have covered bloggers.
But the commission stopped short Monday of specifying how bloggers must disclose any conflicts of interest.
The FTC said its commissioners voted 4-0 to approve the final guidelines, which had been expected. Penalties include up to $11,000 in fines per violation.
The rules take effect Dec. 1.

Very interesting developement

I'm wondering if that would be looked at as some sort of income. Shit, we're going to pay taxes on everything and anything now.

Look at Andre and the gang posting up Six Core benchmarks like a year ahead of schedule (exaggeration) while us lil folk hate all the way home.............................................. ....

This is true, but if I were in that position I'd be pwning 6 core sweetness my damn self. These guys are given that hardware because they're good or well known, and no matter how much "we be hatin'" they will surely get more.

The key word here is "given." I really don't see the point in regulating anything that you get for free.

I'm against hatin, honestly, but oh man oh man, I'm a hater today boy,

I'd give both my left nuts for play time on that chip ahead of schedule. :morpheus:

I think we all would, my friend.... sadly, by the time I would ever be in a position to I probably wouldn't be able to afford the taxes imposed on them... :D

another thing is weather you realize it or not, alot of work goes into getting taht hardware, and even more work when you recieve it.

alot of info they expect aside from the reviews you write....

I say call it payment for services rendered.

Yeah, but how are they to report the hardware given to them? What kind of price can be put on engineering samples and prototypes? Even if they are production models, I would think that they still would be considered pre-production due to their release.

I say the manufacturers should charge one USD to nip that in the bud quickly....

I'm sure the big dogs can spare a doilar for the cause..... :morpheus:

We're not talkin the IRS, its the FTC. I'm pretty sure this is more geared toward fair trade practices regarding marketing hype and such.

yeah i can understand that if your given a bunch of stuff or paid to push one over the other in comparisons things can get "skewed"

I thought that was all part of the game though. "I give you free stuff, my stuff better look good on your site" sums it up quite nicely. If it doesn't perform, then it doesn't perform.

Anyways, back to the sext-core chip and 2 left nutz....

Andre isnt given any hardware really. Asus sends him some motherboards and vgas but thats really it. He pays out of pocket for ALL his cpu's including gulftown. If anyone wants a gulfie they can be had for $1500-2000. Andre bought 4 chips to find the current 6.4ghz gem he has (with NO coldbug.... running @ -180 n sh!t). Any one of you could play with gulftown right now if you wanted to...

Hmmmm..... Anyone wanna buy my family? Dog included. Woman slightly used. I'll even throw in the short leash she tries to make me wear.

I'm still against hardware reporting to ftc. what is in your house is your business.

Btw, im pretty sure Andre gets EVGA boards to play with.

Also, i really like the idea of this because there isnt enough transparency when it comes to reviews. I know for a fact that some people get paid for reviews through advertising revenue.

Nope he buys all his boards retail (including the E762 he is benching gulftown on) so that people cant complain about "ES mobo" as he put it.

How can he buy a board retail when i've seen him benching unreleased EVGA boards? Im not saying that all of his stuff is given to him, but saying he buys all his boards retail has to be an exaggeration.

That was kingpins stuff. Vince gets prerelease since hes the official eVGA extreme bencher. Him and andre share the same lab (aka the deep freeze) so he uses Vince mobos too. But is own he buys, with the exception of some asus boards asI said
