I plan on building a Silverstone SG07 which requires the use of a slimline dvd player. Has anyone used one of these or can tell me if any special sata power/data cable is needed?
i never used one but i doont think you would need special cables for it

I would'nt think so either but every reviewer on the egg was complaining they did not get a "special" cable with their slim drive. I have no idea what they mean.

The SATA data port is the same, but the power port is shorter. :Hi:
the adapter at the top of the list Splave linked is what you will need...

Cool stuff, don't those slim's have a short life tho?
Only if you treat them like shit. they should last longer if anything, since they have no motors/belts that open/close the drive. The lenses in them are the same as the big drives, but the track, motor and lens are all in the tray instead of the housing. that means no slammy-slammy when you shut it and you'll be fine.

Thanks Splavo! I think you are correct Face...the connection does appear to be smaller.

Slimline sata cable on the way along with a SG07 and Vertex 2 60GB...finally going to do it. It will house my 5870 and the 670 doing double duty as my 24/7 and game rig. I will post pic's of the wad starting next week sometime. :taunt:
