I thought nV released these to have non-reference pcb's right off the bat. There are already pretty hefty stock-clocked versions available. Bet those are cherry cores?

Quick google shows refernce boards.

Also shows no voltage control on anything but ASUS 460s.... oooooo

Hope EVGA comes out with one, as I want to give the 460 a turn n burn....

do you know what cards you will be using??? can you get me a copy of the stock bios?

I can mod it for more voltage.... check out my hwbot sub, taht was soft modded bios

we will be using 1gb 460s
hell I will slap an evga bios on there if we have to!

I have a bios for EVGA 1gb 460 taht unlocks software voltage control to like 1213 mv

thats the one i used for my #1 spot sli 460s on hwbot. and thats on air.

seems like cold doesnt do alot for these cards though.... your talking 100Mhz tops, maybe a little more unless something changed

Well we are gonna have to figure out some kind of edge. Splave said they don't mind bios flashes, so lets at least get that. We can see what kind of voltage smart doctor offers then flash to evga if necessary.

I might have a unlocked maximum voltage Asus SmartDoctor for you guys, but I doubt it's going to be of any help on anything colder than single stage ( phase change ) since those cards suffer from the Cold Slow bug and I haven't seen any mods/BIOS for those.

Here is the modded bios for the GTX 460 Hawk if it is of any help. It has voltages unlocked.

You dah man Rick :)

just cuz I have not done it myself.

Can you crank speeds close afterburner reopen it and crank it more?

Heard it somewhere.. I dont 3D ...
specifically on the 460 hawk too...but for non ABX users

AFAIK the only way to crack the frequency limits ( sliders go only up to 100% ) is by re-programming the card's BIOS with higher default freqs.

Thanks BZ... I know you have a lot of experience in this hobby. Are you saying you tried this and it did not work? Or just that it does not on principle?

Would like to know, I have not tried this as a rule on vid cards but never had a 460 Hawk either to try it on. Which is why I think I said I read it...

Would it be uber helpful if it was true? Doubtful on this team ;) :)

It's bulletproof.
Raising the clocks with Afterburner ( on a stock BIOS card ), closing it and re-opening it won't allow you to go any higher than you could go before.

Another reason to go for eVGA eLeet, no clock lims ( unless you think your card can do 2500MHz GPU Core clock that is :D ) and functional voltage control for most cards ( don't know if it works for the GTX 460, only tried it with the 480 ).

If it doesn't, I'd simply raise the voltage with Afterburner or Asus StupidDoctor and then overclock the card with eLeet.

Are you using the stock eLeet or is there a special unlocked version?

Here's the version I'm using (http://www.benchzone.com/Downloads/Temp/e-leetTune_v1.70.1pb.zip)

You change the second ( up to down ) "3D Performance".
Notice that after you apply a clock change, regardless of letting the app run or quitting it, if you want to change the clocks again you have to select the same entry on the drop-down menu, ( 4th selection if I recall correctly ) which shall be "Unknown" instead of 3D Performance now.

This one works like a charm for sure, don't know if the latest stable version on eVGA's website works perfectly, but it should.

Have you guys tried Afterburner 1.6extreme with modded .bat file...???
You gan go as high clocks as you like for mem and core plus it gives you plenty of voltage to play with...
But i don't know if it works with 460 cards af far as voltage is concerned but please try out...

Bill if it's not ok with you give me a call to edit it...:)

The only version of Afterburner I could get to work correctly was 2.00 Beta 7. As you know for the contest I had to have Afterburner open...with this one I could clock up to 1044/1218 before the card took a leave of absense.
