Patriot Act FTW!!!

In all honesty...

I would rather live when I grew up then in 1957.

Lets see... communism was going to kill you.. you went to Vietnam probably and the training (not the war) busted you up for life...

Smoking unfiltered cigarettes was "recommended by doctors" and marlboro "reds" as if there was any other at the time) was considered a womans cigarette.

Beer was shit in this country.

If you were black/hispanic in 1957... it definitely was not a good time. Pablo must have had his ass kicked every day.

Cars were cheap as hell by todays standards. But most people still could only afford one.

Of the kids mentioned that "went to college" 80% didn't. Pablo definitely did not.

Guess my post is not as funny as yours. Then again I hate chain emails that people forward to farm for spam.

OHHH No chain emails in 1957. Spammers had to actually pay postage!!!

While I do realize this is supposed to be a joke, some of the info is not exactly true.

2010 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then
tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because
Jeffrey has a disability.

ADD in not considered a disability, and SSI won't pay anything for it. As a matter of fact, my youngest son is Autistic, and that's not even classified as a disability in NYS, so he gets no SSI. My wife, who has been declared legally blind, also gets nothing from SSI because I have a job and supposedly make too much money. This state is fucked.
I do agree though, life was much simpler when I was a kid.

ADD, ODD, ADHD, Autism, are all potentially serious and difficult life altering conditions. Why in the world would they not recognize it as a disability? I just had a case with a young boy 9yrs, and his ODD is incomprehensible. The child literally cannot help himself from being oppositional to anything you say, its a sad thing. Then of course the parents, who started off in life as normal people, are losing their minds trying to care for this child who occasionally throws fits like he's possessed by Beelzeebub himself.

I don't wanna get into politics but I'd support anything that will help these kids/adults out of my pocket. Until you've experienced it first hand, you have no idea the difficult lives these people lead.

My son was diagnosed with turrets syndrome and ADHD .... He was tagged as a bad seed from pre school though elementary school. We fought the system every step of the way and finally got a diagnoses. We got the PA turrets syndrome advocates involved as well as some of the finest attorneys in the Northeast. The school wanted to ship him off to IU13 a special education school for defiant and less than academically stellar students. Me and my wife at the time would not accept this and fought the good fight down to our last bit of savings. we won after a bitter 4 year battle with the district and finally got him the academic support he needed so badly to succeed.

Today Cory is in twelfth grade he is taking all college courses that will earn credits for farthing his education. He is in the top twenty in his school of 1600 seniors. He has some of the finest universities pursuing him and wants’ to be a chemical engineer.

The front runner as of now will be Laffette with a close second going to Lehigh Valley with Amerada’s such as the dude who engineered the Golden Gate Bridge and Lee Iacocca ... LOL

Moral being the system wanted to write him off, but many kids with disabilities are actually brilliant

O yea he can take me down in five minutes on a chess board and is first board on his HS team

Please Mr. Scott and all parents out there do not take no for an answer ….. We got the, you make too much money line too, Read and understand the laws, it is your rights that they try to hide….

They are there buried in the text, finding them is challenging to say the least.

Sorry to OP .... putting these kids on drugs is no joke, it is tragic

I had no idea Brian. Thanx for the support. In NYS you just beat your head against a brick wall. I've been working the system for 10 years and instead of moving forward, they actually take things away. It's very discouraging and frustrating.

That just sucks Scott, It pisses me off, you would think they would be bending over backwards to help our youth, What really sucks is the exapmle they are setting for our kids. The o mighty dollar is more important than the welfare of our children. They don't even see the problem, These kids represent the future of our nation....

One of these kids could cure cancer or Aids, be an embasitor or a senator....
Why do they take this approach, why would they throw away some of the best and britest kids due to a disability..... for all of you out there, Please write your senator and keep writing, the only way to implment change unfortunatly is to be more of a pain in the ass than it is worth to them. Call these people out .... do it now.

The future literally depends on it .....

Off soap box

Yea kiKi .... this stuff is Methamphetim ... a true narcotic and the doctors can't even address what the long term use will do and how many years of there life is being taken away by long term use of these narcotics ....

These phyciatrists are simply pushing this stuff to reap the benefits of huge kick backs form big Phamicutical .... make no mistake the largest most lucrative business and lobby in the world is simple drug dealers and not that they don't help a significant amout of peolple but at what price ???
