It's not cold enough tonight (4ish C) for regular water so I'll be immersing the rad in a bucket of ice/water/salt (just enough water to fill the gaps so to speak). CPU is a Pentium 4 521 on a P5K. It will bench @ 4.3 and change under a little domino ALC @ 12c ambient so I should get a decent boost. Looking to take the top spot in PCMark05. We'll see.

I need about 600 but I don't think I'll need the same kind of clocks as Turrican too get it. He is fairly easy to beat usually b/c he seems to follow one formula and not deviate much from it.

An example would be he likes to use a 3850 AGP for his s478 PCM runs + XP. This is a no-no. The 3850 will return very poor 2D scores b/c ATI won't/can't seem to write proper drivers for hardware acceleration under XP. The big pixel shader score won't save you either. It just ain't enough.

call me crazy

But should you not be using vista/7 for pcmark? The drop across the board is minimal but the gain in 2D alpha transparency is ridiculous. more than makes up for the minimal reductions in other scores.

IE the 2D - Transparent windows not 3D pixel shaders

I know pixel shaders is not 2D. I'm saying the gain you get with a 3850 in pixel shading is not enough to make up for the 2D loss.

No Vista (forget 7 it's worthless for PCM) is not optimal for s478 or 462. XP + fast Nvidia card is the only way to go. You'll see shit with AGP + Vista.

In my case tonight i"ll be using server 08 for 775.

Proof is in the pudding regarding 478 and 462:http://hwbot.org/listResults.do?userId=9994&applicationId=9&offset=50

BTW your crazy.

i know what you mean on the ati/nvidia...lol that sheet is fked we we're figuring out why the cpu score was 500pts down.......switching cards...fixed the cpu score problem on one competition...

i still need to study xp/vista/7 stuff.....good call there..hope you beat turican :D

Not to quote Phineas but.. "Yes, yes I am"

lol

Good to know about AGP. Thanks for the tip :) (understand the 3850 reference now as it was the best AGP card... AFAIK).

And yeah... GL on the #1 attempt :)

It was /is the best. If your running 3D applications. If your benching PCMark it's shit. Just compare my scores @ lower clock speeds with Turricans in 478 and you'll my 7900 GS and 7950 GT own that bench.

Here is a very good example:http://hwbot.org/hardware/processor/celeron_s478_330?tab=2drankings#/manufacturer.rankings.do?applicationId=9&manufacturer=intel&hardwareTypeId=CPU_936&hardwareType=CPU&tabid=cpubenchmarks

Even worse he's using Vista here and that my friend is fail.

Thanks. We're giving it a run for the money. I'm remaining optimistic. At least we can cover all 5 stages without a problem.
