Anyone ever hear of it or know what it is? http://ultimatecomputers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3644

Does it show up on our stripped OS's?

Wel ... it realy needs to be verified by someone here that it aactually works. Who the fk is this guy? Does he reallly know what he's talking about? I wouldn't believ it until somone here tests it and verifies it's credibility.

It is verified that the "solution" works. Question is why do we have a need to do this to begin with? This was instituted for special interest groups, not we the consumer. The mere fact one has to "google" a solution speaks "stealth" move to me. There already existed power saving modes in bios's. Why cripple a cpu with no apparent means for the consumer to remedy or even have knowledge of? Btw, this issue is affecting online gaming which is how I became aware of it. Just another example of someone making the decision they know what is best for you...nevermind what you want or payed for. Sound familiar?

More info... http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/494232-how-adjust-core-parking-inside-windows-7-a.html

This seems to have a dramatic effect on mouse response time, critical in online gaming.

Heard it a long time ago.. That thread is pre release I think.

I do not see what the "cure" is doing... making more cores run when they are not needed?

Does this still take effect even if you run in high power mode?

It is the culprit for stuttering and mouse lag in some online games. I would rather have it and not need it as opposed to not having it and needing it. No concrete proof but I would venture a guess this was done for the laptop boys. I don't need an OS deciding what is best for me.

i changed it, and i see a tiny little bit improvement in laptop reaction and performance, but not much, maybe for benching it's good ?

only 1 setting needs to be changed, and all the rest follows :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Po wer\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\ea062031-0e34-4ff1-9b6d-eb1059334028 = Set "Attributes" @ 0

Yeah if it is causing issues then definitely, it was a big deal back before 7 came out but I have heard nothing about it since.

Glad you are keeping an eye out Rick :)

:ohcrap: I resemble that remark! http://afksite.clanservers.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/laugh3.gif

So has this been determined to be a fix or hogwash? I personally would like to get rid of any spikes during gameplay. http://afksite.clanservers.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/gamer3.gif
