Basically I am just wondering why my scores are so terrible. I'm a total NOOB to 3d benching and I'm runnning 3dmark05 with a 1090T @ 4.25GHz and 2x4890 @ 1000/1100....I'm getting 30000 points with 1 card and 31000 with 2 cards which seems really low. I know both cards are working simultaneously at least according to afterburner. One thing I have always noticed and thought was really stupid is that when in crossfire neither card works nearly up to it's full potential. They stay under ~35-40% load.

I'm wondering if something seems rotten or can I actually expect to gain several thousand points by increasing the CPU 2000MHz? I've never 3d benched at all really and I am trying to get things figured out before I start pouring LN2. I've seen some pretty good results with say a 965BE(quad) @ 6.2GHz so I'm figuring my 1090T(heka) @ 6GHz should be either very close to the same or maybe a bit better in the multi-threaded ones.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

05 is very CPU limited. What drivers are you using?

cat 10.12.......... by cpu limited you mean cpu dependent and cpu speed will make a huge difference?

on amd idk nothing but doesnt seem the best in 3d unless clocked up there but im going to cf 4870&4850 see what i get :)

Cool.....let me know.

well ran it the e8500 not the best for 06 :P

but ran 4850 900/1150 got 14k 4870 800/1050 got 15k in CF 20k

but load on both where in the 90+%

Check gpuz to see if the pcie is dropping lanes on the second or first card.

EDIT: thanks for taking the time to test that DOM:thumbsup:
Always, forever, in every computer and no matter what 2 x 4890 I'm using when I run CFX both cards only run ~ 40% tops except an occasional spike. Usually each card is at a fairly steady 30%....which never made any sense to me. Each card alone runs ~90% or whatever it needs. I verified that the core clocks are coming up from 240 to 1000 when 3d starts.

Dropping to like 4x or something you mean? Pretty sure it's not and it is a newer board(CHIV).

I just ran 3dmark 03 a couple times and I get 42000 less points than this guy with a very similar setup. How can this be?

I had my system in diag mode with afterburner going to verify that both cards are staying clocked up and they are.

I'm stumped and I have to get it figured out before I start pouring the last 20 liters I have, hopefully before it all evaporates.

Look at these 2 screenshots........:Dizzy: I should theoretically definitely be able to beat 109000 points. What's the deal?

EDIT: btw my cards were @ 998/1097...could it be that a 965BE is just flat out 40000 points better than a 1090T in 03...I better go eat lunch and try the 965BE although I'm sure that's not the problem.

It sounds and looks like Crossfire isnt working for you. Must be something wrong with either your drivers or your OS. What kind of score do you get when Crossfire is disabled? I doubt very much its cpu. 03 really isnt all that dependent on cpu. What are your CCC settings? everything set to performance mode and enabled triple buffering?

Everything set to performance, yes. No triple buffering, and AA and AF set to 2x instead of app. settings. Is app. settings lower than 2x?

Looking in Afterburner I can see both cards clocked up like they're supposed to be and working in unison.

I'll disable crossfire and test, and also try with triple buffering. Be right back.

Thanks.

Set AA and Af to app settings and don't use diag. mode. make sure your startup cpu cores in msconfig and set correctly.

Startup cpu cores in msconfig? I am using Tiny7 btw.

EDIT: App settings, selective startup(startup items disabled), triple buffering enabled and I got 72000 points. Disabling CFX now and run again.........35,580 woth CFX disabled.

Still stumped about how I could be losing 37000+ points. Guess I'll be saving the LN2 until tomorrow.

You forgot the GPUz tab in your screenshot.

I do not think you should run diagnostic mode in Vista/7.

Are you using 1 or 2 CF bridges and have you tried swapping them out? Maybe one is damaged.

The cards were at 998/1097. I only use 1 CFX bridge, the other spot is for another card but I could try another bridge I have 3 long ones. I'll try a different one in a little while when I get back

I am currently using selective startup with startup items disabled.

EDIT: all tested with a different bridge, and with 2 bridges. Each test got me 72000 and change. This is BS that my system is not giving me anywhere close to what it should be....at leat with 03. Trying 05 and 06 again.

WOOOT!!! 109,000 points. :)

I turned off Afterburner and ran 3dmark in realtime. Might be getting somewhere now. I tried realtime before and I didn't notice any difference. I thought Afterburner only made a fairly small difference. Hmmmmmm....I still have 2 bridges on there, I'm gonna have to take 1 off now to see again.

Thanks for the suggestions brothers.

once you go into the cpu test..you can cancel out and get your results from there...

np, I always ran 2 bridges but never knew if it was necessary or not :) (I have heard both)

realtime might have been the difference maker :)

What do you mean ...I don't have to do the cpu tests?

Hondacity

yes for 03 n 05

Huh I see nothing about that in the rules for any of them at the BOT. The cpu tests are in the middle of 05 so what do I do just uncheck the tests?

EDIT: I see where it says it.

Yea man, Run only the 3 gpu tests in 05 and the 4 gpu tests in 03. un check everything else.

ok 3d benching is now fun:D......just add LN2 to cpu. 2x4890 with 1090T is doing ok....just about finished running 03 @ 5.6GHz.

EDIT: until the memory starts acting up.

UPDATE: yeahhhhh I got #22 with 2x4890 in 03' for 4.7 boints. I only poured about 8-10 liters and saved the rest for a little run tomorrow.

Good news though my thermometer seems to work now using the probe ocgmj sent me.(thanks again bro!) Lowest I saw was -166C, but I was taking it easy. There is alot to this and I'm starting to get it figured out, but I keep having apparent memory problems and ending up with 1 stick in there when using LN2.

Thanks, I do what I can. Probably about time for some different hardware here.
