Looks like none of the official GBT bioses have PLL override. I'm trying to get an answer why, but I feel it's got something to do with long-term damage.

OCM...

whats the reportt?:D

Man this platform is starting to look like crap. The efficiency is there but that's it. Stupid Intel trying to corner the overclocking market has turned into a major fiasco. They need to go back to the single socket/multi-cpu option era. Imagine bclockable SB in an X58 package OR you could opt for the P55/65 with less PCIe lanes; a la X38/48 -- P35/45

Man it'd be nice to buy one board and run a GT today and pop in a SB tomorrow...

I said the efficiency is there. Spot on actually. They just made a ton of mistakes in the design of the platform IMO. Shat chipset, but that could have probably happened any time I guess. Then this PLL garbage. That is most likely a direct function of them "locking" the regular sku's from overclocking. Now they need patches like PLL over-ride to make the overclockers happy.

I know why they did what they did from a business standpoint. I just don't have to like it as a consumer.

Latest official bios F6 has no Pll Override. Its been takeing out. Beta bios'es still do. I'm on F6d which still has the option.

Why was the option removed? Beats the hell out of me:Dizzy:

It won't matter as everything is going back at them.

I hope once they re-release this platform some of these issues will be worked out.

This was sort of like a beta release that blew uip in their faces....

P67 is to Intel, what Windows ME was to M$

Baring any real competition they will still come out on top.

If AMD has anything in the tank they could make a killing, I just don't see them being able to take advantage of the situation.

So P67 will get re-released and we will buy it all over again .......... :ohcrap:

And it will preform..........

Hey Chuch, I agree it is like taking a bite out of a shit sandwitch but we always seem to go back for seconds ....

Platform was rushed. Just got word that the storage controller might up and dissappear on you one day too. They stopped p67 PCH sales for now and are reproducing the silicon with a fix.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. In all honesty with the limits intel put in place they have to find some way to lure you into buying high end.

From hwbot
Semi-confirmed.

The reason why the PLL override is not yet in the official BIOSes (F5, F6, F7, etc) is that they are still testing the effects of this option. I picked up some rumours about possible instability effects on long-term, although at the moment this is not confirmed and just under testing.
