I am looking to scale back my hardware stock, and use one of the above combinations for a gamer. But I'm confused and would like your input.
Think best gaming platform, not maximizing sales $$
Note the R3EBE is water cooled also
Thanks :D

I would go with the ASUS P67 MIVE ROG w/ i7 2600K if I had to chose between your choices.

unless you have like a second set of 2600k i'd keep that as a bencher and have like a 960 or a 980x + a classy for your gamer
cuz tbh i pretty much get the almost the same FPS on some games with my 970/920 as my Q9400 OC (when it's got DDR3) i just need to get my video card up and i should be good to go
but after me thinking again, i have always done ghetto ass computers for myself so ......

MIVE w/2600K will PWN in a gaming enviroment
the ability to clock to 5Ghz on air and low end water makes this the best Intel offering to date IMO
the hex cores are cool but not many games out there are going to use 12 threads
And core for core it is not even a contest architecturally

jeez, you guys are all over the board, how can I decide  I was pretty much thinking the MIVE too though I might keep an X58 setup too to play with
Thanks Bros

I have seen zero improvement using the 2600K. Since I got the 980X back from rma I put it back in the Classy and it is once again the gamer. Higher clock does squat for gaming...concentrate on your video card. ;)

Thanks Rick, I'm actually thinking of keeping both the MIVE and an X58 with a 980 just cause :D Torn on this cause I like the looks of the R3EBE better (gamer) but am more comfortable benching the Classy :argh:
At this point I'm also torn between using either 2 or 3 water cooled 580s. I love the look of tri-sli but not sure the 3rd card would really do anything for me. Probably will make it all three just for the visual if nothing else :P
I just need to make sure I sell enuf to finance the 2011 setup once it's released ;)

Id keep the 2600K the lower thermal dump is cool and the higher clock really wont help much past 4 GHz approx..
then just focus as said above on a couple good gpus

I've got a 5870 in my gamer now because I wanted 3 screens  3 screens it too damned immersive for me  I have 3 EVGA superclocked 580s and water blocks for all three. They've been sitting around doing basically nothing, so I'm thinking of using those and selling the 5870.
The problem as I see it is I can get more value out of the MIVE w the 2600k when I sell it than I could the R3EBE which was ungodly expensive even before I bought the water block for it. Should make a good gamer too, so.... :Dizzy:

truth be told bro, you need to work on being more decisive ............ :rofl:rofl
End of the day daawg, 3 580's will provide you with a great gaming experience with either CPU.
I have 2 vinillas and can play Crysis 2 with dx 11 and texture pack at
Maxx settings in game
and override in nVCP with the following
64AA
16AF
Supersampling
Highest quality settings through out
never even get a hick up
I agree the MIVE will bring mo money, But I would max out boints with it if you have not already
x79 is coming soon ........

It played games both on cartridges and via a tape drive. All of 6KB of RAM
WD, the MIVE is days away from being frozen with a 580 lightning sitting on top of it :muaha:

Extreme Gamer, the Black edition with the hexacore chip.
CPU power is not as important as bandwidth if using 3 GPUS (extreme gamer) the bandwidth makes up for the slightly smaller CPU perofrmance.
Plus you have HW NIC and Audio card.
If only using one or two cards, stick with the 2600K

Then you're saying use 3 cards w/ the R3EBE? Sounds good to me :D

I picked the 980x/RE3BE. Server quality board vs non. No brainer. It'll take a beating, and ask for more...and more...and more.....:)
