Steve if your board can do reasonably high bclock, or if you do the usual SteveO has to buy the best (eVGA Classified), the W3540 is the same price as the i7 950 ($550-ish) is totally kicking booty. Andre Yang is almost passing 3d06 at 5450mhz if I recall correctly.

920 ftw.

920 ftw.

Totally agree buddy, but it's Steve we are talking about. Getting him to even consider a 500 dollar chip over the EE is a big step for him ;)

Oh yeah. I figure for $1,000 you could get the 920 as well as a 955 Phenom and a mobo for both. Well almost but close enough. Then you would have double the fun!

That would be alot of fun, but I'm just not that impressed with the 955. Just the scaling between dice to ln2 is too much to be fun. Atleast with intel and the right chip you can compete with some ln2 runs.

I bought my Xeon from Andre, and am very happy thus far. It'll do 4.9GHz on 1.4V, I have validated at 5.23 on 1.5V, and am still learning the tricks to go higher.

I've done some 3D at 5.1GHz on 1.5V as well. LN2 would be better than dice for sure.

Wow gunny! He really sold a chip that is that good on "sub-par" cooling? He must have really kept some gems :D Glad you got one though.

I really want to get this thing down around -100 or so to see what she's got.

Have not seen any stores, but I know Andre has about a dozen more up for sale at XS.

It was pretty funny but I heard a rumor on how he gets so many too ;) Could just be one of those rumors though.

Best take it to pm Chuckos, less we got the facts jack. Look at all those rumors about how I've spilled every sort of coolant known to man on my motherboards.

Well two of our bros over at NBOC have got their 975's up and running under phase...on the phone with one of them for about an hour today. Seems to clock way better than the 965 but I am still leaning toward the 950/w3540 myself for my next proccy. The saving will yeild me another pcp&c tc1200 for my bench and i don't think i will be giving up much in the way of performance or boints.:alien:

No boss. The plan is to downgrade the Warbird a bit. Gonna pu a stock evga x58 from my wingman, put my dom 1600's and my do920 with the exisisting tc1200 and the tri 280hc's with all the water stuff back in....essentially just switchin the ram and mobo out. Then build the battest ass hutch/amoire/benchdesk youve ever scene, and putting the classy, 950 or w3540, ss, new tc1200, dom gt's, newest gpus x3 (on air), ect....in there. Essentially the bird is the gamer and then the Rom ship from the future in the latest startrek flick, is the bencher. Dinner and a show! :alien:
