While they should be called AL's-pedia, or alternatively "splave sticks" the company that produced the hypers is Elpida

as far as value, no idea. they were worth a bunch only a year ago. Now.. the market crashed, and Intel loves it some high speed do hickeys. Even at the expense of trcd. Probably still a good market for AMD OCers though.

In fact I wonder if the speeds and timings are even accurate. Hell my X58 setup would boot up with 3 sticks of hypers at 2000 6-8-6. And one of the sticks was actually dead. (Took a couple of reboots, I disable logo but still do not always pay attention so didnt see the 2048MB RAM splash... ) I'm just saying. Intel IMC is SUPER forgiving. Too forgiving? Who cares with 3000 MHZ ram running through it!

Not so much. AMD's could never take advantage of the speed. Most AMD IMC's are only 1333 native. They won't handle much more than 1800-1900. They would rather have super tight timings, and I can get 6-6-6-x @ 1600-1700 out of a $40 set of sticks.
