My 9800GTs dont seem to exsist. No picture online matches them, even though its the same P/N as the one on Galaxy's website and newegg. The differences are, different heatsink, differnt location of the 6pin, and possibly shorter card (mine are 8in, maybe a little less).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.aspx?CurImage=14-162-028-S03&ISList=14-162-028-S01%2c14-162-028-S02%2c14-162-028-S03%2c14-162-028-S04%2c14-162-028-S05%2c14-162-028-S06&S7ImageFlag=1&Item=N82E16814162028&Depa=0&WaterMark=1&Description=Galaxy%20GeForce%209800%20GT%2098TFF6H UUEXX%20Video%20Card%20-%20Retail

The parts on the back of the PCB are different then the newegg one. Will take a picture with my camera, but it wont be a high quality pic.

Anyway, looking for the voltage read and mod points.

I think the far left chip is the one I need, but not 100% sure. Also not sure if 10k VR will work.

This is the voltage regulator for your ram mate. Measure pin # 4 to pin # 7 and let me know the resistance. The core voltage regulator must be on the other side of the board. I assume the used the same one as on the 8800GT. Must be like a 42 pin IC. Let me look it up in my old info stash. :)

EDIT: Did they used the L6713A for the core?

I googled the top right chip in the pick, and it says its a mem chip. All the other 9800GT vmods Ive seen are the square chip with tons of pins. The only one like that is about an inch above the far left one. But has a lot less pins.

The far left one pin 4 and 7 is wierd. Not sure if its not making good contact or if my DMM is bad. It starts at 1, then when I touch it will read some random number for a second then go back to 1.

EDIT: 570 ohm pin 4 to 7.

For top right

Bottom right

Far right

This is the same card, and same PCB, except mine has a 6pin connector, and this does not. And mine are at the default 600/900 clocks.

The voltage controllers with a lot of pins are the ones for the core voltage. I assume the comp is turned off while taking the mesurments?

I pulled one of the cards out, and have been using that.

The one above the far left one says
BN-BD
M23

and has 24 pins, 6 on each side.

Thats on the front of the card.

Also, they are 55nm ones, GPU-Z just cant tell.

Well I assume the IC above the memory controller runs the voltage to the core of the card but it is hard to say for sure with our the data sheet and an actual trial and fail procedure since I can’t find anybody else who has done this already. Are you planning to voltmod the memory as well and is this your (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=3926984)thread? Looks like you say that the resistance you have there is 570 Ohms so a 10 or 15Kohm VR should do the job for you on the memory.

I can do the mem too, they only hit 1050Mhz.
I have two 10k VRs, so Ill just use them in the mem. Do I just solder it to pin 4 and pin 7?
It is my thread.

Oh, and I am pretty sure the square 24pin one is for the GPU. All the other PCBs Ive seen look almost the same at the video out side of the card. And on the left, the mem was on the bottom left, and the GPU right above that. Only thing is, how to tell which pin it is.

This is the problem! You will need the data sheet to figure this out.

I was agreeing, Ive looked all over and cant find anything.

Any ideas of any soft mods that might work? The GPU voltage tuner at XS didnt work. Not sure if any BIOSes increase that much.

For the memory, where do I check the actual voltage at?

Any way of telling if its the right resistor by the resistance it has? Using a ground on the card and prodding some of them around the chip, most either do nothing, read 60 Ohm, a coupld in the 400s, one in the 200s, one in the 600s.

Did you try RivaTuner to change the core voltage (Look at the links posted)? I did try this method on my 9800Gx2 and it worked just fine. Regarding to the ram voltage you will have to make the mod and than poke around the card while running looking for like 2.0-2.1V.

No, havent tried them. But the card doesnt have Volterra parts. Thats why the one voltage adjuster wouldnt work.

Back to the M23 chip for a second. I tested each pin, one give 512 Ohm, one 5k, and one 9k. None of the others had a solid reading. Some would flash, then read 0. I followd the line from the 512Ohm one, and its a resistor right next to it, and it reads the exact same.

Which is the M23 IC? Are you referring to the IC above the ram voltage regulator?

Yeah, the little square 24pin one.

Yeah this will be tough to find out without a data sheet. Can you give me a HD picture of this and the surroundings? I'll try to see what I can find out.

Any progress? Sucks cause one card runs 760s on the core, and one stops at 725. Both cards only get 1050 mem, so Im deciding if I should do that mod or not. Going to do some benching to see the difference between stock mem and 1050 to see if another 100-150 is worth the trouble.
