Calico random freeze ... tried from 1.35v up to 1.45v with no success .... could pass Jane Nash at only 1.35v 1250 core but Calico wasn't having it ...
Temps I kept up, -110 max (I removed the heat spreader and it doesnt like much cold now)

After it crashed loading Calico (some dx error), it would crash every time loading, gonna have to reinstall os ftl

Ill reinstall and go after it again, I think I need VR to fine tune while running.

Kal-EL 01-14-2011 04:58 AM

Was it bouncing all over Joey?

Not bouncing but climbing ... the heavier the load the higher it goes

Hondacity 01-14-2011 10:01 AM

joey

temp of chil chip?

Gomeler 01-14-2011 10:11 AM

If your chil chip is getting cold you are doing it wrong :D

Got a picture of the GTX580 die? Always cool seeing those things delidded.

yeah you def need the vr, I start heaven at 1.4v let it climb to 1.43 in bench (test 9 or so) then keep tuning it down to 1.435v in bench (every 20 seconds or so it climbs to 1.45v lol)

Benching outdoors? Insulate the chil chip with a bit of eraser. I had to do this with a fussy R3E ES board when running in my benching chamber at around -25C. Works like a charm. Same issue guys were getting with boards plastered in eraser and the eraser chilling down the PCB and VRM contorller.

Hondacity 01-14-2011 10:31 AM

i bench ln2 :D

Patch 01-14-2011 10:42 AM

Al, you getting shutdown at 1.45v or just don't want it up there? I have some cards that won't tolerate more than 1.43 and some that will.

Chil, chil, chillin... I slapped a little heatsink on my R3E chil to warm it up.

then how is your chil chip getting cold? Are you pouring LN2 on the mosfets again?

With just a thin layer of vaseline on my 580 I can run fullpot all day long with just some frost building up on the backside of the PCB behind the GPU core.

nah It got up to 1.47v like twice and was still running. Just doesnt need it that high so I bring it down in hopes it will make her last longer :D

Did some good work in Vantage this morning ... not quite as cool as Splave, but what is that cool anyway??

1275/1250 score is low for the clocks, but finally broke 40k :)

Patch 01-15-2011 05:50 PM

Nice work Joey.

I take it by those RAM timings that you're putting the Big Bang to good use.

Man you guys are throwing up big scores this month. Great work!! :good: I managed a few free minutes myself tonight. Nothing special but something. Something is goofy with my 06 efficiency so I'll have to troubleshoot that next time. Anyways 38.6 boints for the team. Gotta figure out 06 issues and then hammer down 05 & 03. Still got clocks to add on the CPU too. I just gotta get the time.

Patch 01-15-2011 11:38 PM

Nice benching guys!

Wasted enough time and effort on this UD9. Clocks OK, but doesn't come near the R3E. Quad-SLI without an SR-2 was a pipe dream of "gonna be's". You got to know when to hold em and know when to fold em. It's going up for sale. Glad I didn't use any vaseline on the the thing.

Bummer Patchy, did you get any "special" bios for that board?

The ss is fine. I was planning on doing testing when I first started. Then I started waisting too much time. I got plenty of mhz to go. SS holding -40c on 06 cpu test.

DrNip 01-16-2011 02:27 AM

Great job guys. Nice to see you pumping out some scores chuchnit. I see you grinding OCM.

Dentlord 01-16-2011 02:37 AM

Great scores Chuch, OCM pumping out the HW boints I love it!

Wish I had ln2 for today, looks like Im stuck not benching. UNLESS Fry's has SB in stock :D

DrNip 01-16-2011 04:43 AM

SB is the way to go. I love how it is an air chip. Brings more competition to the table not to mention cheaper to overclock. Also it is the perfect chip for us dads that are too busy to do any real sort of benching.

That's just it. I'm tired of trying to find secret sauce bios. There are too many better things out there to bench. 3D benches blow on this board. The fact is, Hicookie used a 6.8 Ghz Frankenchip to make this board look good. And even his 3D efficiency was atrocious. It's been out a long time and nobody else has been able to do squat. 3 GPU's on a R3E crushes 4 GPU's on this board in everything except heaven.

I'll hold on to it just long enough to tinker with Heaven when my replacement 4th card arrives.

Splave 01-16-2011 06:15 AM

nice scores guys!

Splave 01-16-2011 06:43 AM

gd65 and 2600k in-bound. Once I saw what sandy bridge does to gt1 in 03 I was sold....150fps higher at 5.5ghz then my 980x at 6.05ghz. Then throw in 01 ownage and I cant contain myself. Couldnt swing overnight shipping $50 vs 2 day $2.99 though lol will take vantage WR tomorrow, heaven 2nd place the next day then sandy ownage after that.

OC Maximus 01-16-2011 06:50 AM

Thank you kind gentlemen ;)

I knew you would end up with the 2600k. :D I'm telling you the 2600k is going to be an epic chip.
