Default Maximizing System for Adobe - Need RAM help

I'm taking some online courses with my daughter to learn Adobe CS6 (Photoshop and Premiere pro).

I'm bumping up the system RAM and not getting the speeds I want. I've never used more than 6GB RAM (gulftown) and need some tips before I hang up my hat and blame the IMC.

This is the main rig on air, so I can't go crazy with voltage. Particularly since I'm limited to a single 25mm thick fan on the CPU cooler in order to fit 4 sticks of RAM.

Up till now I've been running 2X2GB @ 2200 c7.

Picked up a set of 2X8GB sticks rated 2133 @ 9-11-11-31. Best they'll do is 1600 @ 8-8-8-24. Won't boot at 2133. Won't even boot at 1866 with CL11!

I'm RMAing them in case they are the problem, but I suspect my IMC is screwing me.

To test, I combined 2 different sets of PSC's I have laying around to see how it does with 8GB.

2X2GB rated 1600@ 6-8-8-24 and 2X2GB rated 2200 @ 7-10-10-27.

Combined into a 4 stick 8GB set these won't even boot @ 2133, even at C11 (remember, they'll do 2200 C7 in 2X2gb form). But they'll do a decent 1866 MHz C7.

Any special tweak or obscure voltage I should know about when using a lot of RAM and all 4 slots?

If my IMC just can't handle faster than 1600 when using 16-32GB of RAM, then I'd rather save some dough and get much cheaper RAM.
