Cut and paste not copy, your moving it not overwriting . I use 2x60gb vertex 2's so it takes like 35-40seconds to move a 4gb file maybe 2 minutes total

Are you watching the mem usage in task manager?

If you were doing the same in spitweaker and getting up to 530MB syscache and 150KB superpi... It should have little effect on performance.

dunno why, but on my machine I have to cnp 6GB from D to C then to E to get it up there....

And it seems to be even FASTER on spitweaker when i do it, I just hit run 3 times real quick... then cancel it out when the mem usage drops (about 5-10 seconds)

Yeah SSDs are the way to go. I have two Intel X25-Es and it takes pretty much the same time.
