Default x58 platinum 920 D0 A stepping PAtrioit Extreme Viper 3GB 1600

Starting off with some pics

From unpacking to first setup to modifications. I added some stiff paper to the side of the hammer for better air flow control, (Have not tested effectiveness yet) and a fan to help cool the blazing hot chipset (will re-TIM it later)

HAve not stressed Mem yet

Currently running

200x21 +.1v (1.325-1.35 effective)
1600 MHz Mem speed at 1.65 volts. Gogin to get this closer to 2K
4890 at 1000/1125 for an AM3 run at 50% fan speed

Soon as a I figure out how to change TGA to PNG I will upload my 280k result at the bot. Its low and no boints, but its a start

Well going to have to spend more time on this. It is no 775 for overclocking for sure. Hopeing it is more like AMD, take care of themem and the IMC and then worry about core.

Going to play around some more in the 4+ GHz range and try and figure it out

Temps are amazing even at 1.4vcore though. Cant beleive people say these run hot *pshaw

(course modding the hammer really helped. I think it dropped temps at least 5C maybe more like 10 )

thanks banik. Think my kids are throwing me a surprise party tonight, so no more OCing for me today :(. Got a little frustrated last night trying to run 32m at 4.2HT. And drank some more beers instead of working on it lol

I might not be juice happy enough as your PM after reading your PM, temps were reasonable so far though with the slight increases I was giving it. wprime 1024 only heated it up to high 60Cs.

As for the hammer mod I noticed when it was running that a LOT of air was gushing out the sides. More than out the back of the heatsink. My aunt got me a little birthday card from the store (real small one) I just ripped it in half and taped it to each side so the air is forced to pass all the way through the heatsink and most importantly, reach all the heatpipe connections.

It definitely seemed to help and when I next have some free time I will take the board out and redo the NB heatsink, and mod up something a little more permanent for the hammer. I would also like to get another panaflo on there And some more xigmatek fan mounts. I have a battle axe cooler sitting here un used that I took the fan mounts for.

Something that just drops over it and could double as a shroud right out the cases rear exhaust (I am sure someday it will go in a case again lol)
