Default Downloading Win7/64 Service Pack 1

WTF, I can't download and install it?

Win update gets about 3/4 of the way through, then stops and tells me the installation failed. Numerous times!

I downloaded and installed the hotfix, which didn't fix shit. I downloaded their "mr fixit" software that didn't do shit, and I downloaded and used their standalone updater program, which.. didn't do shit

I tried to run an "upgrade" with my system disk, but right at the end I BSODd and Windows told me that there was a compatibility problem with the system on the disk and the one on the hard drive... the same effing intall disk I used to setup the HDD.

Somehow though, through all this crap, IE9 was mysteriously installed on my computer

I defraged the hard drive and ran a complet virus scan - no virus activity. Windows tells me there is no problem with my Win update functionality...

WTF??

Typical windows update failure. The installer is stuck in a loop. It'll never finish or install another download until you fix it. Try to uninstall the service pack update from add and remove programs.

unfortunately, it wasn't there to be deleted. I searched on the KB number as well as strained my eyeballs trying to read all the descriptions. Am now downloading manually via the Windows service pack website... 900+MB to download this way, but maybe it'll work

What's really wierd is I'm downloading the same KB number file that update was trying to and it says

windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe ??

Hope it works. It's usually the auto installer that screws up. Maybe the manual install will get through it. Fingers crossed.

Nope, I'm totally Fubar'd.

Now I get error code 80073712 when I go to the error log. Basically says the system store is corrupt. Look at the date in the pic too, probably not having the time/date set correctly didn't help

I think the problem started with an update to Net 3.5.1 which never has gone through. Had this problem years ago but back then you could actually contact MS and they sent me a net file fixer that cleared the problem. Now they want $259 to talk to you for 4 to 8 hours!!!!

Anyway, going to try the "upgrade" routine again with the OS, then if that doesn't work my only options are a) live with it or b) reinstall and spend HOURS downloading updates and my games

I have a headache

Time and date is exactly what screwed it up. Try an OS repair first, then try to upgrade it again.

Could be. Could be all OS and driver related. Hate to say this but a fresh install may be looming on the horizon.
