Hmm...ssd shows up in bios, but not shown in Windows install screen with the Toshiba. Bad ssd you think?

EDIT: Yep...bad ssd. Swapped the one in the Vaio and proceeding with OS install now. I'll put a 30GB back in the Vaio.

This one is just an old one that was lying on the bench forever...no updates or tweaks whatsoever. Just about finished with the OS install. I put the full Toshiba spread on it for now...I'm sure it will be full of bloatware, but will give me an idea if I want to pursue this. Maybe later buy a larger Samsung and swap to another OS.

First OS install was a fail...something was blocking it from fully booting. This was the recovery DVD's from Toshiba. I did a quick install of a bogus Win 7/64 and had to go hunting for a WiFi driver, but got it going now. I can say it is snappier now...will probably end up ordering a larger ssd in the end.

Yes, you can download all drivers from Toshiba...just type in your model number. Here were mine... http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...lFamily=804517 . Even my Win 7 Lite got held up by one of the drivers, but not sure which it was. I went back and just snagged the WiFi driver alone and all was good. If he needs more than that I would get it up and running then try each one at a time. I'm thinking Toshiba's junk has to be applied in a certain order to work correctly...don't understand why the recovery discs did not take tho. Here are all the drivers for your laptop... http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...ily=1073768663 .

Went from a base score of 5.8 to a 6.9...much improvement for little effort.
