Default Black Mid Tower without lights and pomp?

Building a new 24/7 rig and ditching the watercooling.

I've really liked my Lian Li mid tower (the precursor to V1200), but I'm looking to replace it with something where everything in the front i/o panel works.

I like black with an elegant, but understated look. Don't care about a side window one way or another.

Needs to have easily removable hard drive cages. I never need more than 2 or 3 drives, but I do need space to accommodate air craft carrier size gpu's.

I like a top front I/o panel near the front.

I can't find a current model Lian Li that has what I want and doesn't look too flashy (what happened to them?).

Going for a Corsair Obsidian 650D unless anyone has a another suggestion.

I have an 800D but the things a monster. The 650 should give you plenty of room

I agree Patch. Its hard to find a "nice" mellow case these days. Everything out there is "flashy" as you said. But that case you linked from Corsair is really a nice case. I might look into that one myself.

the hot swappable on the last one is sick toast for a mid

Personally I have not found any other manufacturer that can match lian li's fit and finish

Best of luck with the new case Patch

The 800D is a monster! I was pleasantly surprised to see they developed a mid-tower conversion.

Yeah, my favorite style is still my current Lian Li with curved edges on the front. Here are some pics from when I painted the inside cages and set up my first water loop. (Yes, I quickly ditched that ridiculous rear radiator )

I don't have a broad experience with a huge variety of cases, but from my limited experience I agree with you about Lian Li quality.

While still available at a few fringe places, the PC9 and PC6 are no longer made. I came real close to getting the PC-Z60, but the black innards, cable management, flap to cover front i/o panel, HD dock on the top, and the ability to remove 1/2 of the hard drive bays without a dremel are making me favor the Corsair right now.

HAHA WTF is that?! A quad push/pull setup on a single 120mm rad? Nice again!

My biggest complaint about cases are all the knock out 5 1/4 bays they have on them. WTF? I always try to pick one with the least amount of these. Liking the case you picked, besides the bays.

Looks to have plenty of cooling with that 200mm fan. Times that by two because there are two of them!

My preference would also be for the I/O panel to be on the top instead of the front like that. Damn door would get on my nerves. Looks like you would all the time have to lean over to see where to plug a flash drive in unless you have your case up eye level.

Lol, that's a pair of 38X120's with some gutted 25X120 housings used as shrouds.

I felt I needed that extra rad on the back with the quad-rad I mounted on the side.....for an i7 920 and a single 4870X2! Good times.

I made some aluminum "elbows" that bolted directly to the fan mount bolts on the rad. Then bolted it directly to the side panel. I wanted it to look so clean you couldn't tell how it was mounted.

Used to have some pictures/build log somewhere.....can't find em.
