Default Thermalright True Black 120 vs Corsair H70

I have the thermalright at the moment for my overclocked i7 975ex.
I was thinking with the corsair Obsidian 800D that will buy soon to change the thermalright with Corsair H70 watercolling.

I want your opinions about if its worth it to buy the h70 for lower temperatures vs the thermalright and for another reason that summer at greece is veeeery hot about 40 degrees.

Now at my overclocked i7 975 4.2 4.3ghz im about 38 42 43 40 degrees idle but at full load it goes to 77 80 easy.

IMO, a good air cooler can keep up with and imo pass a water cooling kit like the H70 but opinions will vary. I'm running a megahalem and it pwned the H50 in personal comparisons. The mounting kit blows chunks imo too. my 2 cents.

I've always seen nice results with the true and its reported to be a great air cooler.

What fans you using?
That will have a huge affect.
If money isn't a problem, why not build a proper WC loop with a 240/360 rad?

I have an H70 on my SB build

I agree with Supes ... the munting kit is complete fail

I just grabbed some hardware at the store and overcame that for like $ 2.50 american

Not sure what the euro translation is to that ............

The H70 does preform though... I have 2x 80 CFM AOC's on it ...

I would recomend 2x 100CFM slip stream however .... I am not up on air coolers but with stock 60 CFM fans it come in just under a D14 ....

The biggest thing about the H70 is the small footprint .... good air can hang with it

if you have tall memory it possibly could be win for you

All that BS said ....

Decent loop will outpreform both options, I haer great things about the RASA 240 and 360 for a quick solutin if you have two 5.25's to give

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ra750rswakit.html

hard to beat for $ 130 american and will crush the H70 and D14 on thier best day

The high end kit cost a bit much and possibly would consider custon loop

But here it is

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ekh3osuhf240.html

Best of luck and I will post up a pick of my home made mount, I think this allows for better contact as well to outprform many would be reviews

My dumb ass left the back plate on the WS when I RMA it .....

I've heard that the stock corsair fans suck major balls.
What fans are you using witchy? And which 100cfm ones are you referring to?
I'm trying to work out what fan I should use with the one on its way to me

Yea they are throw aways at best ....

Maybee decent for an e-mailler or something like that

Zero proformace factor from the factory ....

I recommend these

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16835185060R

right now I am using

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835119104

they are decent and way Kool looking, but ultimantly get pwnd by trhe slip streams

Ultimantly I will be changing them out for the Syths for my final build as a gamer system.

http://www.overclockaholics.com/foru...1&postcount=44

I will be on hold for a bit once that happens , Saving, giving blood, mowing lawns and providing gigilo services on the cheap in preperation for what will ultimantly be the biggest bend me over platform to hit the streets evar ........

Are those slipstreams really that good?
From the specs I doubt they push 110cfm?
Also i've got the model down, and it doesn't seem to push much air at all :/

Wehn I had a Rampage 3 Formula, I thought about picking up a H70. The reason is with a Mega Shadow on it, the heatsink (+fans) completely blocked air flow to the VRM and IOH sinks. With an H70 or something or other water cooling yout can install side panel fans that will blow directly on those sinks helping you out with OCing.

that being said, I doubt it would be much of an issue because I do not know if the H70 could keep up with a 4.7+ GHz i7. In my testing for max air clocks I was running an open bench design and had to find a way to setup fans blow on the IOH. Other boards might not this issue, and if you do not run in the top PCIEx16 slot, then it doubly is not an issue.
