Well I suspect you are maybe close to half or a little less correct, and the other half or more is the fact that the process either isn't mature or early batches were fubarred.

I'm still curious, my board with the Mushkin ram I first tried would set the vtt to 1.585v and vdimm to 1.8v for it's rated speed/timings with stock cpu speed.

My Classy and DFI set the VTT around 1.2v and DIMM around 1.56v.

Was that for rated speed/timings for your ram?

OK... My VDimm is manually set @ 1.65 per factory specs.

What the heck is VTT? CPU? My CPU VTT is 1.325. I am a noob now... Still learning all this lingo stuff.

Also the Classy has WAY more settings than my x58 does, and I did not see it in there either....
Below are a few screen shots for a better idea of what some of the BIOS options are....

Interesting that you and Nip were both running fairly low QPI/VTT assuming that the bios is fairly accurate. I tried to get mine down and it wasn't having it once i raised the cpu clock but my ram wouldn't pass memtest (when overclocked) unless I lowered the vdimm (ram voltage) to 1.6v. I've seen it where lower vdimm worked better but not lower then stock rated voltage before., again assuming that my bios is fairly accurate as I haven't measured actual values yet.

By no means that was just the default BIOS settings.
