Default Tv tuner cards an hdtv set ups

Im looking to buy a tv tuner card an really dont know anything about them. Does anyone here have any input on these or suggestions from experiance ?

Depends on your requirements.

OTA? Go with a hauppage 1600/1800 card.

Cable? you can get by with the same card, but to get all the channels you pay for you will have to go with a cable card or M-stream tuner.

I have no experience with them but Ceton was first to market with M-Stream but they are $400 (but can record 4 simultaneous channels)

You can find some cheaper alternatives, and something liek the Homerun seems to get good reviews.
