Is anyone going to ces ?

I was thinking about since i'm only a few hours away.

A few questions:

Will there be a problem if i'm 20 ?
How much is registration ? <- I found it, its $100 and $200 at the door

As far as I know you can't just walk in, pay a reg fee and get inside.

I believe you have to have a some sort of pre registered pass as a blogger, manufacture or some other thing.

And only a few hours away LOL, thats like a 10 hour drive for me each way

I'll be there, will be my first.

I registered as a blogger/reviewer and there was no fee, just got my official confirmation today. I did it through the link that Fugger posted at XS.

Your age should not matter for CES, but I believe there is an age requirement for the XS party, 21 .

I was there last year and here are a few tips I can pass along for the first timers.

Forget, just forget driving your own car and think you will find a parking place. Parking was the worst nightmare I have ever seen, very few parking places and others were very far away. I block in Vegas is a long ways for walking.

The area it was in last year was just off the main drag so access to the place was not hard, but again simply finding a parking place that didn't take an hour to walk to CES was hard.

Take a taxi or shuttle buss if you can find one. What ever hotel you are staying at might have shuttles to get you there, or at least have an idea on the best way to do it.

Get there very, very early if you want to spend some time at all inside.

Glad you posted. THe wife set up the CES thing for a x-mas present. She and I will be attending under the banner of Overclcokaholics. I'll see if she can setup anyone else under our banner as employees or bloggers if it's possible.

Anyone interested in attending, pm your info to me and I'll pass it along to the wife and see if she can hook you up.

I've never been to a CES and have no idea what to expect but all else fails, I love shaking the dice

Edit: Don't send me info, I wouldnt know what to do with it. I'll let you guys know what the V.P. of Overclockaholics says....(She's headed to work and will work on it there)

I'm having the wife read thru all the bs paperwork to find out whats needed. I tried reading thru it and it says some shiznit about needing two forms of I.D., one photo I.D. and one proving their affiliation with the CES Industry (like paystubs)

You dont need a paystub, you can use something like a business card also. It just needs your name connected to X company.

I have my badge sitting here, but after all is said and done I cant swing travel costs AND buy a gulftown (priorities!). Flight/Hotel/Rental/Spending cash would add up to almost 2 grand. I would prefer a gulftown

But im going to make reservations early for next year and definitely go.

I used to do winter CES every year for about a decade....when I was working highend car audio for manufacturers. It can be alot of fun. Make sure you bring warm clothes, its cold as hell in vegas in January. Also Buck is dead right about parking. Better to take the shuttles from the hotels to the LVCC and save alot of headache and cost. Wish I could join you guys, have a blast!
