Default Kriztoffer 5870 volt mod

Been working on my 5870 today.

Things done:
Soldered 11x 470UF 6.3v Caps onto the phases.
Removed stock VR at OCP and added 18K fixed VR for OCP mod
Voltage read
GPU Vcore boost ( I'm missing the 50 OhM VR)

I'm looking for more hardcore mods! please shoot me a tip if you got one.

- Kriz

Add an extra 6-pin connector for input. That's about all you can do after the vmod and extra caps.

Fantastic work man!!!
Just add some caps here and you're good to go.
It will help your memory a lot at low temps...

Adding extra 6 pin can be a tricky business especially when soldering and choosing the right cables for the job so i wouldn't even mind...

Thanks for for everyone taking their time to comment!

Crusty should I just use 470UF 6.3v caps for it?

I´d love the extra 6pin, can´t be that triky and I´m really up for it! if anyone have time to explain, I´ll listen carefully!

Thanks a lot for the advice!

Yes use the caps you have.
For the 6pin mod for start just measure the coils to see which get 12v...for start because after that it becomes really tricky...

I will look into it over the weekend. Is there any signaficant gain from the extra 6pin mo?

I was looking after some heatsinks for my 5870 to use under ln2.

Anyone have any experiance with this kit from scythe?

Nice job on the vmod. Regarding to the heatsinks. I have been making sinks from time to time as needed. Here some pics of back in the day Voltmodded 8800GT
