fastest with 50 gigs

Fast with 80 gigs

X25-M hands down. That extra 30GB will come in handy.

Would you really notice a difference in the two when just running a single SSD? Reads are close to each other and that's what you will be using it for most of the time. I say go for the storage.

I think right now isnt the time to buy an SSD. I regretted getting mine, and sold one because of it.
Two of them is too much hassle in RAID. So if you are getting one, I suggest just one.

Also, the difference really isnt that big. A slightly slimmed down and optimised OS on a standard HDD, or RAID HDD is the better option imo. Best use for SSDs is to fit large things like games that have long load times, which sucks since SSDs are so small.

I say give it till end of the year, and we should have sub $200 120Gb+ drives that are faster then whats out now, and might even have TRIM in RAID support.

If the drive is for a gamer rig, is the 30 gb loss going with the OCZ? I'd bet not.

Thanks everyone for your input .....

After much reading and hearing the input from my team mates I have decided to go with the Intel.

The write times are pretty even and as OCZ advertises busrt writes the Intel is sustaned writes ....

so even the writes are not as far apart as it seems ...

Taking this in to cosideration and and being it is for my Gamer I think I am rolling with the Intel and the extra storage to enjoy the 270 Mbs loading levels ....

If it were for my bencher on the other hand the OCZ would be a no brainer .... as I am sure it will pwn PCM05

Honda ...

I know it is near the end of the product cycle but the price also represents that ... I am sure the new gens will be asking for top dollar .... My priority now is to get up and running on my bencher and gamer and work towards a global level GPU ... and hoping a consumer priced 32nm hits the streets .....

C...

My experience with SSD has been quite different as I would not even consider booting with a tradition HD ever again

the Vertex 1 that just died was like turning on a television on my system ... hit the power button blink your eyes and the M$ theme song is playing ....

Thanks again to all for your input ....
