Default 2x8 pin hookups

Do these boards actually OC better?

I would think that 400W to a CPU would be enough, but 800W (well CPU limited of course) would be more than enough. Is it the act of splitting rails, that helps or just the raw power that i7 needs?

Thanks

I don't think it's watt related rather than stability related...Also more watts can feed better the capacitors and pwms.

Well I have a couple thoughts on this. First, many people even on the classified said they saw no difference with 2 8-pin connected and others see stability increase. Fugger mentioned with the C0/C1 that some chips had a runaway amp problem. Using 2 8-pin could alleviate the problem by splitting the load across two power sources.

I don't see any real world results or at least everyday cruising. Now whether there is any behind the scenes stuff goin on when I go extreme, I dunno. For me, it is a little added insurance when I am pushin my rig beyond believe. Plus I have a PSU with two 8 pins and I feel good finally being able to put both to use. LOL

Haha, it's probably due to those boards using ghetto parts just like the evga boards always have, double up the power source and you have better odds of getting a reasonable number of power phases working.

Sorry but thats a terrible attitude to have When evga sold nfarce crap that statement may be true, but their x58 boards are top notch. The classified is simply overkill for the power draw you are gonna require from it (until 6+ core i7). Frank you know that evga by far has the best cpu power delivery on the market with the Classified.

Buddy for over $400 for a mobo it should come with a midget that lives under my desk...I really don't know that the evga board has the best power delivery, all I know is that it has the most power connections. I do however have plenty of past experience with evga's massively over priced and frequently faulty motherboards. Just going off of what I've seen/heard of the bios setup on those boards confirms that they are insanely over priced, use of that old ghetto +.1 voltage garbage should get the engineers a free kick in the pills.
