Need some help guys strange stuff happening,
I installed XP on a Dell I have for the X79, both service packs too on to a Raptor(ATA) then put the drive in my X79, issue is in windows it only see's 1 core. Even though device manager shows all cores?
All drivers updated, even the bios still stuck showing one core in CPU-Z?

IIRC check the processor in device manger, I think there was a work around for ACPI multicore CPUs.

Its going back 10 years so sorry if the pointer is not that helpful :(

FYI my laptop say ACPI x64 CPU under "computer" in device manager.

If not that then set thread count with boot flag

It shows all cores in device manager but in CPU-Z only shows 1 core and seems to be running super slow. The last part you mentioned I.m not familiar with can you expand on it?
Thanks!

Are all cores enabled in the bios?

Try this. Start-run-msconfig. Boot-Advanced opitions-check number of processors-scroll down to max number given-click ok. reboot.

Wow sorry for the delay, been crazy round here.

duke covered part of it.

The other part is open task manager and then click computer and see what it says.

I am running a simple natural dual not a hyperthreaded beasty but I think it is the same nomenclature regradless.

It needs to say this

Attachment 7164

If it does not then there is a fix for it. JOOC, did you use usb stick install or a hdd image? the latter might be the problem.
