WTF is wazza? and where do you get it ...

FACE 09-05-2010 05:17 AM

the easy way to perform wazza is with a program called ocx spitweaker.

The other method is manually by creating rar files or using command prompt

Fresh OS install on a standard hdd. Unsure atm if a ssd has any superiority over a hdd at this time. All settings and procedures the same as the latest submission.

logically it should because of its lower access times but dont know practically it helps or not....(since Ram Disks have been proven by others to not help SuperPi 32m hence not sure)

FACE 09-05-2010 07:47 AM

I was told this a long time ago about ramdisk and pi

...RamDisk doesn't work well for Spi because in order to use it, you trade off from actual ram size for the ramdisk size... in 32bit the are so many adresses - blah blah blah (how memory works and irql talk). On 64bit you might be able to use ramdisk with some positive results, but the same basic memory rules apply..

I paraphrased it just a tad...

RAMdisk would then help with pi sincemost people limite it to about 1.15gB of addressable space anyway for 32M ... leavng lots of space for a ramdisk.

However I thought ramdisks were verbotten?

rickss69 09-05-2010 02:07 PM

Those of you not in here yet don't let this opportunity pass you by to learn something. I promise nearly everyone will pick up something that will aid you in this benchmark. :good:

What settings do I use for pifast?

And my superpi 8M run was like 3 minutes:shock: with 4.5GHz/1650 memory.

That isnt the point Honda - He will be going up against like processors on the bot and needs to know how to maximize his runs. This contest is a perfect place to learn how to do just that. ;)

There is no doubt in my mind now that I could go back to any SPI submission on the bot and improve greatly on every one of them from what I have learned just this week. :good:

i've always used print screen..

why do you guys use screen hunter?

Neuromancer 09-05-2010 06:08 PM

I use fast stone.

But thats because I usually have a limited install of winFLP and it does not come with paint and even when you add it only saves in BMP anyway.

So fast stone works. Load it after a run (very small and light) hit print screen and I get a jpg saved in my pictures (default is PNG).

I also am having OS install issues now after the server 2003 I grabbed off the FTP server does not work with other enterprise keys or something... so I found one of my old disks and it crashed and borked the XP install.

Now I am having optical drive issues!!!

DOM 09-05-2010 06:28 PM

i just got back from sea world and cant wait to go back home and see if im going to need to order a hd :(

cuz when doing an install on raid you need the raid drivers on a floppy right ?

anyone selling a r3e for cheap ? ;)

FACE 09-05-2010 07:28 PM

sick score to lose, rick. You are teetering on the edge... I love it.

Going to start pushing again tomorrow to see if I can't join you there. :ohcrap:

I have to say that this is most def. a much needed learning experience for me. We are all going to be taking home some real tools for success after all is said and done and the tweaks, tips, and tricks are laid out. I know I will never be able to just run a pi bench again.... even if the chip is crap.

Dom... if you break the raid you will be fine, but if you do anything to either of the hdd's the data is goners.... create an image of the install before you do anything. or just back up the irreplaceable data. movies, music and stuff like that can be gotten later if space is an issue. Back up your pics, docs and shit that can't be replaced and you'll be golden.

No I made the mistake of trying to install OS when overclocked.

Causes issues with USB/PATA devices.

Well 4400 MHz CPU 1600+ mem at 6-6-6 does at least.

Dropped to stock and no more issues.

hmmm...dont have PATA drives hence cant say but otherwise full 4.5Gh CL6 install, nothing borked, except ofcourse less than stellar scores,

rickss69 09-06-2010 07:41 AM

Just a friendly reminder :

When you update a score remember to type "updated" beside your name.

There should only be three pictures in your submission at any given time. (PiFast, SPI 8M and your rig pic)

When you update your scores do the math...enter the correct times and total for your current submissions.

Be certain you have the desktop background in all of your entrys.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in your submission being denied or put on hold. (per RomDom) :good:
