I have a little issue here with the clocks reported by CPUZ. I mean I have see this before but never worried to much since there was no clock limit. Well I run 214x21 which in my book is 4494. CPUZ shows is as 214.5x21 which is 4504. If I drop the multi by one you all know what will happen. I supposed there is no way of fixing this anyway?
|
you can see if you can change it with setfsb... Ive been getting the same alot too

I use 215 multi and it shows slightly over 4.5GHz in bios but cpu-z reports 4498MHz. When I use 214 multi cpu-z shows 4480MHz.

Shit, just typed a nice long intro, then didn't save it - DOH
Anyway, not sure if this is where to post so if it's not, please could a mod move them for me. More bad news is my fastest pifast I saved as a bpm file that's over 5MB and, ummm, kinda won't fit  So, I'll post the mandatory rig shot. I'm starting with an x58 762/980x with chilled water. I'm still reading on superpi cause I'm such a S-Pi NOOB it's not even funny hopefully I'll get it in time to grab all the prizes at the end of the contest So now I'll post the rig pics and my next fastest pifast, and look to get a Superpi up by the end of the night :P |
Yah, this isn't the submit thread CrazyDaawg, but before we do any moving, I have an idea, open your screenshot (bmp) file and take a screenshot of the screenshot and save as JPEG. That should get you motor running.
Then look in the Contest section, the link is upper left on the sidebar ;) |

^or just open it in paint, save as, and change the file system on the bottom to jpg :)

You can get a bracket kit that will fit any socket. :) |
Still no RAM here. Ordered another Super Talent stick so I'll have 4GB by ends week. The Munchkin's I have just won't cut the mustard. Another day gone by wasted for me.
|
heard that ... my PI Blacks are begging for mercy ....

are they really good or just so so :Dizzy: i been told different things |
Dunno. 1st time going with them. The 1st stick should be here tomorrow.
|
Which one's did you get ?

make sure post something on here about it =) let the guys know about it |
No RAM can bench pifast. 600 - 1000 MHz makes not 1 second difference not 6 or 9 cas
TBH I am wonderign why there is such a differnce in scores once OS is tweaked its all CPU speed. |

Shaved a sec off time. Can't wait to get some better sticks. UPDATE: http://www.overclockaholics.com/foru...64&postcount=4 |

Tried 2 sticks of RAM so I could clock higher... dual channel loses almost 2 seconds. Tried disabling link fast QPI mode (supposed to drop it to 12X multi??) nope lost 4 seconds. I am going to run pifast a couple more times tonight, and then call it quits... and see if I can break 1.40 on superpi. I have tweaked pifast before, but I either maxed my tweaks already or am missing something obvious. |

15th try LOL
|
Nice run ....
|
Yes, pifast is indeed an ugly wench... I found that most of the tweaks for Spi hurt pifast... ram helps, but it has to be an almost absolutely perfect balance of timings, including those retarded no-name subtimings..
quit working on the why's and who's of pifast since rick rolled me up and smoked me on Spi 8m, but if I can get close enough, I will be back on it and raping it once again... *hint hint... how big is your screen? try different sizes for pifast. ;) |

I managed to knock a full .1 second off my initial pifast run, but no more than that. Think I will be cracking 1.40 8M tomorrow night when I get home... played around with wazza last night till about 4AM, needs 3-4 transfers of 4.5GB to make it effective. I found though, that hitting run 3-4 times on spitweaker and then cancelling it out does the same thing. So hopefully can save my SSDs :) managed to pull high 1.40.xxx with only 3.4GHz uncore last night. Hoping the 4.2+ wazza will help me break it. Only one thing left to try and I do not think that it will make 2+ seconds differnce. |

Update for post # 7 - http://www.overclockaholics.com/foru...2804#post52804
It Lives! Took a chance and put the 980X in the Classified and it booted...and lookie what she brung me! Lan was out at the end of the runs so I re-booted to put at defaults so I could submit...she refused to boot again. This may have been her last hurrah but it sure made my day! :D |
