Thanks Honda I'll give it a go! :D:good:

Wow. Stick of RAM came in and I'm guessing its not compatible with my mobo. Sad thing its I ordered another one that will be here in a few days. Looks like I dropped $170 for nothing. Maybe the stick is just bad and the next one will work. Time to play another waiting game. Sure was wanting to get in on this contest but won't be able too.

Hondacity 09-07-2010 12:19 PM

the ram stick didn't boot?

mobo? bios?

DrNip 09-07-2010 12:21 PM

Computer turns on and stays on. Nothing but black screen. Shut her down, pop in my Mushkin and everything is fine. BIOS is set to default. Even tried going into the BIOS with the good stick of RAM and setting the volts to 1.65, timings loose and set to 1333. No luck.

MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-H55N-USB3
RAM - Super Talent 2133 cas 8
BIOS - The Latest & Greatest

Gigabyte's website shows RAM being supported up to 2400 but not by Super Talent. This is the 1st time I have ever experienced anything like this. Usually when I run into RAM problems I get the dreaded beeps. Dunno if that applies to non compatible RAM.

EDIT: I quit computers. Going to go lay down and lick my wounds.

some days that is the best solution bro .......... bro

it will be there taunting you ...... (evil laugh)

DrNip 09-07-2010 01:12 PM

Well I powered it on and let it run. After about 30 seconds it powers off and powers back on. It will continue on this endless loop as long as I will let it. Now I'm going to lay down and rest my neck. Good luck to all. Later.

Hondacity 09-07-2010 01:37 PM

endless loop means the bios is in stupid mode....clear cmos with a flat screw driver...while power is off at the psu...

DrNip 09-07-2010 01:46 PM

Cleared CMOS, pulled battery, etc. No luck.

Splave 09-07-2010 01:48 PM

which slot you using

Tried both. Doesn't matter what slot as either or worked with my Mushkin. Can't call it. Will know more when the other stick arrives. Come Thursday I will try this stick out on the HTPC when the wife is at work to see if it is the stick or the MOBO. :D

kikicoco1334 09-07-2010 04:20 PM

is thermal electric cooling allowed?
never asked

RomDominance 09-07-2010 04:42 PM

Cooling limits were revised fairly early on Kiki. Anything goes down to +15c, cold air, cold water, ect..Just stay away from dice and LN2, capiche?

HITandRUN 09-07-2010 04:46 PM

Updated my times! I got no chance with my ram getting anywhere in SPI but I swear to god that by tomorrow I have a PiFast run ready to take the first spot. I hope you doods don't have backups and let the little guy enjoy himself for a day or two. I have been banging on this PiFast for days now to the point where I developed a sick love relationship to the BSOD! :D

Hondacity 09-07-2010 04:51 PM

lol addict ... iplay no backup games ...my pifast maxes out at xx.69 ..i'm relying on my spi32m :D

I can only imagine I disable something in the BIOS which locks it now for me. Can you give me a screenie of the CPU options the way you have it set up?

Do you mean Peltier/Tec cooling? Also Rom told you that the idle temp can not be lower than +15C. Further it was stated that cooled air or chilled water can be used and that's it.

thebanik 09-07-2010 06:14 PM

I dont think I can handle any more BSOD's, locked windows but no improvement in scores, taking time out till the comp. is over or I get a new set of Ram....

oh cool!
yeah it's a 65W Peltier with water block that i made
i know it will not go down to 15 (prob not even 35 lol)

Neuromancer 09-07-2010 06:18 PM

I went through all that crap just getting started at stock LOL

I am pretty fortunate on BSODs so far (guess I am not pushing hard enough :)) 4.5 is easy though on the classified.

I turned settings down to somethin I considered easy on the system... (went to 7-7-7 1700 and 3400 uncore) for testing tweaks... so trying out different tweak techinques at about .5 seconds slower than my best time :s )

Man I cant wait to get home finish my testing and see if I can even come close to what you guys are pulling :)
