Heya folks! I see there has been some updating while I was working...good show! I'm getting ready to go in the bench room now and see if I can get those SPI errors worked out. Good luck to all!

i really don't think it'll beable to take it under 15 tho.. last time i used it, it was on a Q6600 and it's like 30~36C i can't remember the dead on numbers anymore but it was really stable :D

not worth trying..those are the small tec.... the i920 is double the heat...your setup will be warmer than a regular venomousX

Same to you mate! I don't think I can beat that 980X with that CAS7 ram i have. I'll concentrate my efforts on the PiFast right now until I get my new ram hopefully on Friday. I had a good PiFast run this morning in the low 18.6ties but it BSODed. :ohcrap: Will be working on this tomorrow hard. Man I actually started dreaming about the SPI and PiFast numbers scrolling down and I believe I'm going border line koo-koo by now! :D

We have come far pilgrams...seems like far. Back on track I set the memory to 2:8 and it made a clean run...re-booted and set memory back to 2:10 and it passed. Guess she's still got some left in her after all.

Holding nothing in reserve and from now on I will be showing everything I am doing. I only wish I had the means to video my routine for you. Anything you wish to ask I will answer to the best of my ability. As it stands I am just a lunitic here pushing buttons and hoping for the best.

I got a high 18.6X score and didnt save because I wanted to run it again when it BSOD'd on me, and after restart even with the same timings the scores are like a few .0X off, cant really say I have learned anything about pifast optimisation in this past week sadly,

rickss69 09-07-2010 08:25 PM

I have exactly zero tweaks for Pifast Banik. I don't even know if any exist for that stupid bench...it has just been blind luck for me so far with no rhyme or reason to it.

Lol! I just noticed that last run I made scored exactly the same as my top score from this afternoon...she sure is consistant.

HITandRUN 09-07-2010 09:31 PM

PiFast has been pure speed and timings for me. The faster you can get it all tuned in the better the score. That's it. I have no tweaks what so ever for this bench either. All I say is sub timings, sub timings! ;)

DrNip 09-08-2010 12:14 AM

Well I popped the Super Talent stick in my AMD build and a no go on that either. Submitted a RMA. It has been the year of RMA for me. :(

Kal-EL 09-08-2010 12:26 AM

Bummerz Travis, you've been getting hit with the rma blues more this year than ever :P

DrNip 09-08-2010 12:31 AM

Its alright man. I just hope I get some RAM that will allow let to compete in this competition at least one day! If not oh well. I'll sit back and watch. I'm kinda scared of how their RMA service might be.

Minor and subtle moves now. I may be approaching the end of it...we will see.

ocgmj 09-08-2010 05:51 AM

Slick work Rick

DrNip 09-08-2010 05:52 AM

Damnit Rick! So jealous.

rickss69 09-08-2010 05:59 AM

Thanks guys - I'm afraid I need some new tactics now...seem to be hung up right about here. I'm open to any suggestions. :good:

Neuromancer 09-08-2010 06:14 AM

Sweet jeebus.

I do not know how you do it man! Congrats, I am sure that time will stick for a while (unless you decide to beat it some more lol)

DrNip 09-08-2010 06:27 AM

Your just damn lucky I ain't running full speed, lol. :D

rickss69 09-08-2010 06:34 AM

If I vary the sub timings much or even touch some of them now it means instant death lol. I have not given up yet, but I need to put some thought into my next move.

Splave 09-08-2010 06:42 AM

^ loose some processes! diagnostic boot mode + theme service is great. manual wazza already and break into 36 you stubborn bastage!

Lol - When I go diagnostic I lose the ability to cycle the themes. What am I doing wrong there? I still don't get that manual wazza...you know how hard headed I am. :taunt:

Splave 09-08-2010 06:50 AM

haha, diagnostic boot mode, then while your in msconfig go to the services tab and check mark themes. It will then change to selective startup mode on its own, you can then do your maxmem etc as usual

HITandRUN 09-08-2010 06:52 AM

This is some crazy time there Rickster! I wonder where the hell Face! Did he gave up or is he working on a secret owning plan? He will have to move since his PiFast is about to eat dirt! :D

Thanks to Splave for that diagnostic/theme fix that I have been battling! Thats what I like most about this...learning new things everytime I bench.

Now to tackle that manual wazza...

STT has pretty fast RMA. I bought a kit of Project X 1800 C7's (old micron D9s) and they borked after 17 months. Email response was pretty fast, and they shipped replacement same day my sticks arrived.

rickss69 09-08-2010 08:17 AM

I am sure I am doing this manual wazza wrong. While I was able to get super_pi_mod.exe down to 36K mem usage it took me about 12 minutes to go through the process. I just copy/paste the wazza folder between drives C/D? :Dizzy:

Ended up with another 1.37.063 run so I guess I didnt do any harm.

Cut and paste not copy, your moving it not overwriting . I use 2x60gb vertex 2's so it takes like 35-40seconds to move a 4gb file maybe 2 minutes total

Thanks bro! I will try that next.

rickss69 09-08-2010 09:01 AM

Aw, I'm a dope. Either I am still doing it wrong or it is netting me no gains. :argh:

Neuromancer 09-08-2010 09:43 AM

Are you watching the mem usage in task manager?

If you were doing the same in spitweaker and getting up to 530MB syscache and 150KB superpi... It should have little effect on performance.

dunno why, but on my machine I have to cnp 6GB from D to C then to E to get it up there....

And it seems to be even FASTER on spitweaker when i do it, I just hit run 3 times real quick... then cancel it out when the mem usage drops (about 5-10 seconds)

Yeah SSDs are the way to go. I have two Intel X25-Es and it takes pretty much the same time.

Witchdoctor 09-08-2010 10:28 AM

got some new stix inbound and with a new XP install instead of Win7 I hope I can compete

DOM 09-08-2010 11:35 AM
