hmm ya i just grabbed another GTX 280 and put it on LN2 and i have the same issue

using E8600

Rampage 2 Extreme

im running at stock clocks (648MHz Core)
and if i raise the core at all even 1mhz i loost 10K points in 3D Mark 2001

If i clock my ram from 1100MHz up to 1375MHz (stock 648MHz Core) I have no problems and i gain about 3k points in 2001

What drivers?

Got my best score uploaded. 13 points behind and crio hasn't even shown his good CL run. I'll be back on top tomorrow to fish it out ;)

im using the Nvidia 186.18 drivers

try 182.50 travis

I agree with punx, My scores went up considerably with the 182.50 drivers.

listen if you overdo cooling on nvidia they will start to dramatically slow down

so ease up on the temps

I've heard that some GT200 65nm cores had a very low CB (-20°C), could that be the cause of it?

thats not true i have seen many of the 65nm cards run at -170C for instance at the toms hardware us event capt. planet had his 280 at -170C to -190C IIRC

I was only running -20c to +20c on the GPU and tested all temps between and beyond with no effect on performance for clocking, i think it has to be the drivers :(

could be a missmount on your pot aswel. then load = death, but idle = -20

a local guy at our low clock challenges just did this score.

The final score would be uhm.. insane. This guy i promise you isnt cheating, i know him personally and he wouldnt even dare it, he doesnt even know how to clock properly yet, but he is doing amazingly well :). it says "7 gametests" so it looks like he did a straight run?

i've done a bit of benching on ATI in the previous comp

i am having a really hard time believing that was done at 4.2GHz particularly if straight run :S

I am at my parents village now....No more tests for me.Wish i had a 4870-4890 under ln2 for tests.....

but, if its a mistake its probly a broken multi or something, Cheat is not a factor here when im talking about the user.

Which test in particular is freakishly high tho?

x38 DQ6 gb might have some freakish reaction with one of the tests, we've all only used RE, there might be some blockage factor on it.

COMPARISON: ok i just compared his results with Crusty's over at XS comp. Crusties Car low is 1100, this guy is at 1171. the other tests scale closely the same, crusties car high is higher than this user. This user's drago is abit higher but otherwise they "look" in order, if it were a straight (all 7 tests) run at higher CPU speed all the tests would be gradually higher. but some are equal and lower and higher than crusties, so im gonna ask the guy to run again and see what happens (at different cpu multi). Otherwise the bugging DQ6 GB is the board to run on! no ? :).
