he keeps getting 1177 car low.

He's using some 8.6 driver he said came with card, dont know why its working on a 4890, will check it! He is legit tho :? so i will see whats up..

Really? I'm running PL8 960mhz 7-6-6-18 1t with the shitty waterblock on the nb still on air. Yet my board hates anything other than 333 strap 5:8 divider.

8.6 are early alpha drivers supplied to the channel partners of ATI for the release of the 4890, they work well i must say, but can be buggy at times.

i just finished my first session with single card and if i could get 1200 nature i too would be hitting 92000...pretty much on the nose, if i could get 1200 nature :argh:

single GTX260 is running out of gas much over 1000MHz at 1.25v and any higher in volts gets me a pretty little screen full of pixelated colors...AKA OCP. i might have to really dial down the OCP mod. i didn't have leads connected to the mod and a couple blind turns didn't gain anything so i played on the side of caution and just took what i could. next session i will mess with OCP a little more. here are a couple photos from this afternoon...

the good news is this card has no problem benching at -135C, hung around -120C most of the session as colder didn't help much but -140C through Nature wasn't a problem, no special BIOS, just whatever came on the card :thumbsup:

yeah, i don't know if NVIDIA/X58 is going to be enough to take the single card either. i've got some decent scores but the N not being maxed has me worried...getting them off the IDE drive that doesn't want to click on either is another worry, but it is in the freezer now so i should be able to get them off later today :thumbsup:

with the single 260 (216SP) at 1000/2000/1152 i could pull 1125~1140 if i remember right in N depending on system settings (memory/uncore). i could tickle 1160 with higher GPU clocks when i could get it to run but OCP is kicking my rump at anything over 1.25v.

Yeah the only thing I have is a i7 975 but this is just not going to cut for the top I think! :morpheus:

Ya ya ya, you ain't go much more unless you vmodded your card and/or went sub-zero. The only thing I see that you have is about 2xx more points when you hit 1118-1123 for CL :good:

But how did you get it to run at the speeds needed on air ?
I used to have two of those cards (went sub zero with them as well) even voltmodded I could never bench at 800 on the core unless I went sub zero.

just got to the shop and im trying the older 182.50 drivers to see if it fix's my score drop when overclocking the GTX 280, if this doesnt work im going to switch to the ATI 4890 on LN2 :)

just pure muscle on the GPU clocks. i still have a ways to go and after dinner i am going to try again with higher GPU clocks. i really want to max out nature but the GPU clocks needed are going to be higher than i think this GTX260 is going to be able to do without any mods...if only i had a GTX285 with better memory than this old girl has.

testing the 975 right now to see if i can get uncore higher on that CPU to help out.

Jody, of the 8 - 10 260's I've gone cold on, none have been happy with both high gpu and mem at the same time.
ie: same card will do 1022/1191 or 850/1300

Another thing I've found, the mem can bug with the cold, the gpu may well do -100, but the mem may not like -20, it will make the screen look all funny like you posted.
I have well tested this with even stock clocks. But not all of them do this, or it kicks in at another temp.
Only use the temp you have to for X gpu speed, you may well have better luck getting a bit more out of the mem.
And don't let it sit idle for long.

11 hours..

the memory on this card won't run over 1152 on air, so when i went cold i just left it there as i wanted to get a decent score that i thought could win. tonight i will go for a little bit more on memory and see how it does with low temps.

the screen going all funny has nothing to do with memory, i am pretty sure of that. like i said, memory was set to 1152 the whole 6 hours or so i was cold, the screen only pucked when going over 1.25v and as soon as load was applied...definitely OCP/OVP or whatever you want to call it. 100% repeatable, no exceptions. i have done the OCP mod for this card and had it tuned to 25K but will go lower tonight now that i have read wires so i can monitor it and see what it does.

i will definitely keep the temps in mind though when trying to push memory...find out what i need for the core/shader at 1080/2160 and stay there instead of going any colder...but i think i needed -130C for 1080/2160 @ 1.25v thinking back. i normally bench as warm as i can but once i worked my way down to -100C on the card and it was still fine, i got curious as to how cold it could bench. Vince has always said the Tek9 slims hold load extremely well once they are loaded up, and i can atest to that now. i could hold temps within a couple degrees at -140C right through Nature with that big load...such good little pots. thanks for the info, you are the 260 master :thumbsup:
