hey... if you threaded a few of the holes, and screwed in some long ass copper rods, you'd increase the mass of the block, adding temp stability... yeah, then you make the copper rods hollow so you can pour more LN2 down them, and, and, and

Fission baby Fission ...............

If we had the macheinery, we could come up with some serious shit :scared:

I know a guy who did just than on the NB once, but with DICE using the cardboard cylinder from a roll of toilet paper.

If I still had my F1 I wouldn't hesitate to drill some more holes in it. Only downside would be the loss of mass. Some people say threaded holes are bad because bubbles get trapped in the threads. I say that's hogwash. LN2 ain't water - that bubble's gonna be very transient.

Vince likes a LOT of mass for temp stability and infrequent pours - that's super awesome for wprime 1024 and pi32. I don't like that much mass because you pay for it with a less responsive pot.

I've got minimal experience next to the big boys, but pot design seems to come down to finding a balance between mass and surface area while working with socket space restrictions. That "balance" leaves a lot of room for personal preference.

wonder if that is the intension of the threads ???

thinking of a nuclear reactor rod drop set up if that make sence

I think the treads are there to increase surface area while the holes themselves are there to tune the mass giving the user better control.

And I agree with Patch, LN2 doesn't have surface tension like water does so bubbles breakup easier. That whole trapping theory is bs.

well yeah Rev, that was my whole point and/or question. The threading adds surface area, but at the same time reduces the overall mass of the block. Wasn't worried at all about bubbles being trapped (help, help lol)

So with more surface area you'd get quicker response, with less mass, you'd get less stability... where would the trade off become beneficial.

I don't have the balls to tap out a $250 copper block anyway ... was just curious mostly
