1.35v is not optimum if your uncore is 4000mhz or above

you have to do it one step at a time.

I did not just set 1.5 from 1.35 of course :Dizzy:

Hondacity 11-11-2010 05:34 AM

kiki

i said get the evga board cause of its crazy price....

the evga is really good even for beginners as lots have already used it and have knowledge using it.

...

i said ditch evga... after i realized that evga prolly won't sponsor overclocking events anymore...

shammy gave away an sr2 for our team...that is very generous on his part. shammy parted with evga. so chances of getting another competition from evga is i dunno.

...

i had lots of fun with the evga...just look at my i920 results...those were with dice... top20 runs :D

No not really. Rampage III Extreme is the new toy out and everybody is on that bandwagon. I don't see where either board really outshines the other in terms of overclocking. The classified and REIII are the two best boards out right now for extreme clocking. It's just that everyone forgot about the classified because they didn't refresh it with sata/USB 3 and new marketing. The REIII was just made to catch up to the classy.

I say they are ~ equal boards.

I have to agree. Remember the 32M competition. I think a EVGA board won. I was not able to get the same efficiency on R3E.

Neuromancer 11-11-2010 09:17 AM

Yeah I would keep the classified and dump the R3F but I need it for other features (USB3 now, but SATA3 soon enough). Just want to make sure I also have the capability to pull it out of the box and beat the crap out of it. Cant bench it past 222 yet, although posted up a 234 screeny the other day on air, link fast ENABLED.

First attempts at link fast disabled = no increase in clockability and worse performance across the board (lost 3-4 seconds in the 8M superpi contest). So might have to chalk it up to the CPU.

Witchdoctor 11-11-2010 11:04 AM

I was tempted on the R3E .... but passed and saving for 1st quarter of 2011

My 760 does a good job, only if I had a decent CPU

My golden 920 went up in smoke................

PolRoger 11-11-2010 07:59 PM

I've got this board but I havn't tested for max bclk yet (~220 max so far).

@Neuromancer... I read your review at techreaction and I've also noticed what you described as "weak" dimm slots on my board especially with my Mushkin kit. 3 dimms installed and sometimes only two show up as available. I haven't notice that problem however with my other two kits but I'm going to monitor it more closely now.

Neuromancer 11-12-2010 05:22 AM

Yeah I do not know if it is a product of the new Dimm clip arrangements, doubtful since I have not seen anyone mention it before, or just a QC issue.

The hyperX t1s are big and heavy rams. Not my first kit of big n heavy and certainly not my last lol. First board that when I pushed them in went "uh oh" though.

Chuch, just got my R3E and it's so totally different than the 762 it's confusing  Still have my 762 and I'm thinking I'm gonna keep it around for awhile until I'm sure
