Make sure you get a decent fan, can make or break any air cooler.

I hear ya. The H70 is something like $109 here or something like that. You can get the VX with fan for like $65 or by itself for as low as $55 if you wait on a sale. I actually forgot to add a couple things on the shopping list but they will come later. I need to go ahead and get a 2-3TB drive for mass storage and I'll slowly upgrade fans. I'm about dead set on some Scythe GT's for the VX and rear 120mm. I'm still waiting on more good 140's to come out for the other three case fans. As of now I would like to get some NB's.

Wow thats crazy! Don't fault you at all for dismissing it then!
The scythes are meant to be pretty decent, what models you going for? If I were spending that much on a fan, I'd go for atleast the 3000rpm ;)
I know what you mean about 140mm fans, there just aren't really any decent ones :/
Can't go wrong with a couple of Samsung F4s for mass storage ;)

I'll probably go 1450rpm or 1850rpm honestly. I have a trusty S-Flex for the CPU cooler to tide me over until I make up my mind. :) I'm thinking F4 2TB actually ;) They are just so darn cheap vs the 5400rpm 3TB Hitachi.

GeorgeStorm 04-20-2011 02:53 AM

Yeah, picked one up 2nd hand (you're probably sensing a theme with my computer purchases :P) for £40, very pleased with it so far.
Scythes are a safe bet for fanage :p

I've bought about half of my parts second hand albiet they are all practically new. Its saved a ton of money. Plus I offset the cost a great deal by selling stuff. The build isn't nearly as expensive as it looks. :)

GeorgeStorm 04-20-2011 04:09 AM

It's the way forward, I don't buy anything new anymore.
I don't think I own anything I bought new, apart from a HDD, and DVD drive :p

They will come. That's for the Member Rigs section though. I just got the AX850 in yesterday and still got to order the VX today so I got to tear it down again. I'll take some pics and start a thread maybe next week?
