Get what is comfortable. Everything else is a gimmick

Membrane Keyboards work well and last Forever. Mechanical Keyboards are the same, except cost more and are loud and will really assist your Carpal tunnel.

There isa reason people stopped making them 20 some years ago. Membranes are better.

If you are a button masher, its cool you can geta membrane with n-key rollover, they just cost as much as a mechanical.

As for USB mice.

If you actually use 1600 MHZ polling rate on USB, you are hurting your gaming experience more than helping it.

Heres how I know.

Naked desktop, open task manageer and switch to processes.

Keep your eye on the CPU usage. Then shake the mouse fora a few seconds. Change polling rate and repeat.

1600 MHZ polling rate uses 13-15% CPU usage on a SB-E at 4GHz.

30% on an athlon 2 x2 at 3.7

So how do you cut back on the CPU usage of the mouse?

I'm too old, I can't even function @ 1600 ......... :ohcrap:

Just reduce the polling rate.

For keyboards, I picked up 5 HP keyboards on ebay for $40 shipped. They work great and have lasted longer than any other keyboard I have owned.

Also the letters don't rub off like the gaming keyboards I have owned.

Kool bones, do let us know how this keyboard performs. I had the sidewinder mouse for a long time. Ask Maadaawg, it did well in Unreal :)
