Yeah from what Jin said it was made to hold 500watts @ -10c.
I think it will go colder but you will find out I am sure :)

I never got it going mainly because I have no Water Cooling equipment. The plan at the time was to use it in the cooling tower to cool GPUs, but with 2 Phases running and condensation issues I never got it up and running.

I sent Kal pictures of how I packed it, LOL it was packed pretty tight :)

I was very nervous about shipping that thing as I have heard so many stories of units getting damaged in shipping.

When I went to the post office to ship it I did 6-7 day. So 9 days come and go and I was going oh nooo. So I called USPS and spoke with a operator and he goes... 6-7 day is only in the US, outside the country it could take 3-4 weeks !
I went OMG I don't feel good about this, Kal is gona be thinking good grief am I getting scammed here.

But then the next day MSN lights up from Kal going ... guess what just came. I went thank goodness, now I can sleep HAHAHA

Have fun Kal and post pic's please :)

That outsid the U.S. stuff always bites my butt. Nothing towards you Buckeye but for some reason people think Hawaii is a foreign country :argh: Anybody remember Pearl Harbor? Or Tiny Bubbles? Tell that USPS guy next time he's in Hawaii....."Watch out Haole!!" :rofl

I think what he ment was outsire of US mainland things go by boat and take longer.

Did you take any pictures of all those styro peanuts all over your place LOLOL

Whn I had this unit I thought hard about how to set it up. Now I know Kal is very good with chillers so I know he can figure out how to set this baby up ;)

One thread I looked at a lot was this one, about Liquid Frostbyte on XS.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=37379

I think that this maybe the way to go.

Another option that I was told was to just use a regular water cooling setup but with a bigger rez and no Rads. Insulate up as you feel it should be.

When I contracted Jin about this unit I told him it was going to be for GPUs on my main rig. So in an after thought the temps might not get really low but it should be able to hold a good hot load at maybe -10c on the GPU/NB and use a normal large rez. Remember the CPEV will alow you to adjust the coolent temps some what.

The power of this unit might just work out for a setup like that.

Jin built this to hold 500watts at -10c so it might not be tuned for max cold, but rather max load. That might turn out to be a good thing also, so it's doesn't freeze up the HX if flow is to slow.

It is the very same compressor and condenser that is used in the SS Phase unit he built for me.

For a benching setup my thoughts were to turn the CPEV to max cold and use a large tank rez sitting on the floor to hold max temps longer. I would think you would need 2 pumps for that, one for the chiller/rez and the other from rez/GPU's.

I have seen several different mix's of coolent used for these setups. I was trying to find that info but for some reason my brain is dead today and I cannot find that info. I will keep looking and post back what I find.

Kal has used chillers before so I think he can do a great job on getting this setup :)

50/50 mix of methanol and water will work great. You will need to be careful though at your coolant will be flammable.

The heat exchanger is a flat plate heat exchanger. Make sure you pump UP and through it, not down and out. That will create counter current flow and better heat exchange.

wow dude looks awesome!!!! cant wait to see it run

Nice unit you have there and it looks like you dont need too much to get it going.:)
