And gskill has 3x2gb elpida chips but they are 300 bucks.

The Gskills that are available now have the Elpida chips are a lower binned chip and CAS9. The Gskill Perfect Storm 3 x 2GB runs at CAS7 2000MHz and should be available soon. These are the ones I am waiting for but until they come in I have ordered the HyperX 2000Mhz CAS8 3 x 1gb modules.

Very wise as this is the route I took. I guess you can call it a band-aid until somethin else comes in. I will prolly hang onto these 3x1GB's myself for awhile as I really have no need for 6GB's of RAM. Maybe by the time I get ready to upgrade the RAM the rest of the Elpida's will have gone down in price!

Well I buckled down today and started gettin my tech station ready for action this week. I finally got around to screwing down my psu and zip tied all the extra cables down out of the way. That was a task in its own. I also put velcro strips on my fan controller and the station to hold the controller down in place. And finally I got rid of the one fan on the station and squeezed two fans in its place. That way air is being blown across the whole board and not just down the middle like it was doing. I used my SilenX fans as they blow alot of air at a pretty quiet db. They just weren't that good on a rad but in open air they are. The fans turned out easier than what I thought they would be. I just had to turn the brackets around to the middle and use three small zip ties. Now I will get air blowing directly across the RAM, NB and mosfets. :D

Just a simple little mod that should drop my temps all around. I've never had a quad processor before. Got this i7 just staring away at me. Tuesday can't get here quick enough.

Chuchnit 04-06-2009 01:38 PM

New mobo should up and what do ya know. This one is packaged right unlike the last one. The box has a lid that opens and when opened you are able to view the mobo thru the window. The last one had the mobo in there backwards to when looking thru the window you couldn't see the mobo but instead you saw the accessories box. Sorry bastards. I know I received a return mobo the 1st time.
