Ohh great while i was typing all that u post this lol. Use fraps is all i can say!

well the 3870x2 did the same thing. Meaning I think the PSU is crapping. I put the GX2 back and cpu and all at defaults. nothing is overclocked. Crysis Warhead ran a steady 45-50 FPS. Tomorrow I'll find some time to tweak the overclock again. It was Linx stable, but maybe it had to do with something that linx doesn't stress much, I don't know, what do you guys think?

By the way sorry to have made your thread a bit off topic, but you guys have been very helpful :)

You'll can PM me if you'd like to keep this thread on topic.

Thanks bro. I'll post back when I get home. Maybe it was a setting in the bios or something. Like memory low gap or something. I'm running sli so maybe I gotta tweak that

Chicken Patty 10-06-2009 06:51 PM

hello guys,

Well I got home and it had done the same thing at default clocks. I took the rig apart, removed the water loop to just check everything out again. I decide im going to take it off the motherboard tray I had it on from my TT armour case and just put my QX cruncher in there. So I take the now empty tech station (where the QX used to be) and put the i7 on it with stock cooler. Now its fine, runs furmark, and everything so far. Even at 4.3 Ghz. The only thing I can think off is that either the backoplate for the waterblock was grounding somehow, or that the mobo was grounding in the tray. Any feedback?

both are possible bro, find where ground is and insulate... elect tape usually works ;)

well I got back home and rig is still crunching along just fine. I really think the waterblock or the board was shorting with the tray or something. All seems fine so far :)

Thanks bro. I have a couple of submissions on HW Bot in the same category as you, but you obviously got me beat with that DICE of yours :)

lol, can I take this opportunity to give you a gentle nudge over to the extreme side of overclocking? Do it!

I have my i7 on stock cooling now, it was as you see crapping on me for what appears to be a short or something. I am getting a Megahelams for it next week to overclock it a bit in the mean time. Then I will be ordering the new case, and watercooling components. Then thats where this particular water block I have laying around will be put to good use :)

I doubt it after i saw ur vcore and vtt i remember at 1.35 i got 4 passes and linx red bar on me. So i uped the vcore one bump then failed on the 17th pass on linx so i uped it again to 1.3625 and finally got 20 in!

I do have a pretty good CPU bro, so don't feel bad. That still a good clock :toast:
