Oil separator changed out and unit holding loads much better. Final tuning commencing, and I really hope we are in the home stretch now. Its been half a year since I benched (and 5 months since the unit was started building), im twitching like a junkie in a ditch over here :)

I'm sure all your hard work is going to pay off bro, as far as benching don't feel bad, it's been a while for me too bro. When you got priorities, you got them what can you do. See you benching soon bro, I know it's just a matter of time before I start again :toast:

Unit is finished and now Ruffus is doing testing and more testing to amke sure everything is good. Holds 300 watts @-89ish. Within a week or two it will be in my hands! :D

ocgmj 05-19-2010 09:30 AM

How bad are you shaking from not benching? :taunt:

Hondacity 05-19-2010 11:12 AM

-89 beats dice!!! very nice :D

6ghz prolly doable

V2-V3 05-21-2010 07:14 AM

karmakazi 05-28-2010 07:09 AM

yeah unit is finished its holding loads great. now we just gotta get it across the border!

karmakazi 08-09-2010 10:07 AM

Unit should be here this week or maybe next depending on if customs thinks its a nuke or not. Cant wait to try her out! Will put the cade on cpu and SS on gpu and see what i can pick up on the bot. Maybe Ill even go get the dewar filled and use the cascade on gpu... who knows.

Witchdoctor 08-09-2010 11:46 AM

Sounds l;iek a blast ... hope shipping and all goes well

In for the results

Smoke um bro ..............

karmakazi 08-24-2010 06:38 AM

Well its here and it is a beast! Should be firing it up for the first time tonight or tomorrow. Rufus did a great job packing it so that there was no issues in shipping. Im buying some gpus and cpus to make an assault on the bot :D

Hondacity 08-24-2010 06:44 AM

FACE 08-24-2010 07:04 AM

that's good news. :Hi:

Keep us posted on your progression with this unit. in for the results.

Kal-EL 08-24-2010 07:23 AM

Put the hammer to it Jamie, knock off that thick layer of dust sitting on your oc feathers ;)

karmakazi 08-24-2010 07:29 AM

Yeah I got 3x5870 love, w3550, my e8700's, and some other random stuff laying around. For sure I need to buy a GT if I plan on making any serious scores... theyre just so damned expensive

karmakazi 08-30-2010 07:10 AM

So I finally get everything setup last night and I goto mount the evap to cpu....

F*CK!

The mounting kit on the cade doesnt have any 1366/1156 holes (but the backplate did)...

Now I have to design some ghetto ass wooden mounting bs blah :(

FACE 08-30-2010 07:28 AM

I had that same issue with the ss Scott built me.. I bought a 1366 mount kit from newegg, and the inner mounts were pefrect to bolt to the head as an adapter... I'll look it up and link it asap

Ahhh... Great Idea face :) Thanks

Edit: something like this?

FACE 09-01-2010 05:57 AM

Yeah, that can work... I use these for the win...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835708049

I don't use the backplate, just the top brackets ;)

Kal-EL 09-01-2010 05:58 AM

got pics Pat?

FACE 09-01-2010 06:01 AM

I might somewhere.... I have is dismantled atm because I am not using it until the compo is over....

I'll look around my hdd's and see if there is a pic stashed in there.

Kal-EL 09-01-2010 06:08 AM

I'm wondering if I can apply the same technique to my cascade head to get better contact than this delapidaded clam hole.

karmakazi 09-01-2010 06:16 AM

ahh i see, those pegs fit into the 775 holes and then it gives you the 1366 spaced holes?

FACE 09-01-2010 06:19 AM

yup... I had to hit up the hardware store for the proper length bolts to mount it with... Works like a charm

karmakazi 09-07-2010 06:18 AM

well newegg sent me the wrong kit:ohcrap:

But I just had the OC bug so I strapped the thing to a REX and dropped my 8700 in there for the 2k1 pwnage. Only to find out my old REX XP install disk was corrupt and during installation windows for some reason kept freezing (all stock settings on ram/cpu). SO long story short I got jack shit done:thumbdown:, but the cade held the 8700 @ 6.15ghz 1.7v at -100. Im hoping for a 6.5+ 2k1 chip:thumbsup:

Hondacity 09-07-2010 06:27 AM

try swapping IDE or AHCI mode....we had the same problem...

karmakazi 09-07-2010 06:30 AM

Good idea, I didnt try that one.

I didnt troubleshoot much because after being sent the wrong adapter from newegg, then having to prep the REX, etc I had already wasted alot of time. Ill give that a shot tonight and see if I can at least get xp installed/running for next time I have some spare time to bench

karmakazi 10-07-2010 04:41 PM

Did a short warm up run (no tweaks whatsoever) on my 8700 and managed to take gold. Pretty efficient stock OS right? :D

Hey karma sorry for hijacking your thread man !
Have you tested the server 03 tw on gulftowns ?
Seems to be slower than a good chopped XP OS . Maybe I do something wrong :(

kikicoco1334 10-10-2010 08:52 AM
