I've been speaking with a pretty inside man. He says revision 2 aka latest E762's don't require any mod for westmere, just bios flash. Revision 1 of E762 had some signal issues for westmere..

Isn't Westmere the dual QPI chips anyways? Why buy them? Shouldn't we be good to go with just i7 980x and W3680 variants?

I agree,

But when it comes to that some people bench any chip just to get the points.... so technically the westmeres are another cpu you can bench for that many more points ;)
