I remember they did it with some of the wolfdales too.

Been on the rough end of the stick with an "Extreme" intel cpu and never again. All the power to those who get one and boint it up for the team though.

yeah, it would be different if the top guys didnt get trays of the extremes to pick through when guys like us have to pay for it. /bitterness /jealousy

splave... even at 6.3-6.4, GT cannot take 01 from 775. Wolfdale will rule that bench for this generation too.

MAybe with a supreme chip and absolutely flawless tweaking it could happen. But with some of the 6.6ghz+ 3dm01 chips going around now its hard to say.

Exactly! I did that with the 975 and this thing is fail. I could never get it going for 3d benching. This time I'll hang tight to see how this turns out unless I can get one for a bargain and still make money on the sale. ;)

Yeah I have a 975ES chip here that seems pretty good, but havin a real hard time getting it up to speed for 3D action.

Its going to replace my 965XE on my daily driver tho as it does OC better and lower heat out put which wil make it good for a nice Air Cooled system.

Its all pretty depressing dropping 1K on a cpu with the hope you can push it 5.5G through a 3D and waking up from the dream at barley 4.6. FAIL!

That is mostly the old Giga board I am using, the mod for it is very nasty.

Every extreme chip I have bought was a complete waste of money.

Just sold my 975 today for $500 and glad to be rid of it

I think the QX9650 and QX9770 were pretty good, but any others I have owned were just complete dogs.
