So the question is how far does a liter get you so I can kind of form a bugdet of what type of cost's I will have on top of buying all the supporting hardware such as pots and dawars and all

so if you have a 35 liter Dewar how many hours of benching does that get you .... ?

It would be around 56 bucks to fill

Today with chips benching around -180oC is not the size of the dewar that maters anymore. The board will run into condensation problems sooner then in the past when you used to bench around -120oC tops.

So the condensation will shut you down sooner then a small 15L can be emptied  If you have all your settings down right and your using on the cpu only this will be good for 4 hours of benching.

I dont want to cause my brother any greif on his job. I'll just open my own business account at Airgas and suck it up.

GFDuke you have a really nice price man $1.06 is pretty good compared to the rest of USA.

I agree thats not a bad price. But i was so pumped when i thought i could get that 230 for 75. I was a tough pill to swallow. But there are other good things about doing it this way. One is that its a business account and i can just write it off. :D

I just called TD and they said that they are only backordered because they havent shown up in their system, but they do have them in the warehouse and should ship out tomorrow

Yup as Jor said, if you are benching just after refilling with all the settings known(thats where cascade/ss comes in handy) then you can easily get 5-6 hours of benching out of 35l(depends on the pot and your handling skills as well a bit), else with a new board and CPU(where you dont know the CBB and CB temps), it would be mostly 1 session of knowing the board and CPU and then only during the second session some serious bot damage......

Neuromancer 03-16-2010 09:16 PM

Wow really thats it? I heard alost twice that... Damn really not going LN2 now unlessits a buck a liter.

Yea i called to cancel mine because they were out of stock and i heard the next wave might be better batches. the guy told me it was already shipped out and they just hadn't changed my status on the web yet. I checked this am and it will be here on Thurs. I guess i'll give it a shot and see. If its a dud i'll just send it back.

Gutterz 03-17-2010 01:52 AM

To bad no one lived by me I get it for .78 cents a litre. The guy wants me to find more customers for it too.

Dentlord 03-17-2010 02:38 AM

christ that is cheap, Im stuck @ $2/l here, miserable!

If anyone can find me ln2 in oklahoma city or tulsa for $1 or less per liter, I will paypal you $50 :D

Not bad for a few minutes on google and the phone eh?

Splave 03-17-2010 03:14 AM

hey dent I can fax you an invoice of what im paying if it would help? thats goes for everyone here.

As far as ln2, it takes about 1.5L to bring the f1 down to negative -175 and start benching. Ive been writting down how much I use. First 2 hour session I used 6L then the 2nd 4 hour session I used 8L so 14L in 6 hours or so.

thebanik 03-17-2010 03:19 AM

Guyz what will you suggest with the bad retails chips out there??? Shall I pull the trigger on an ebay ES sample and hope that its better than the retail chips which mostly it will be, but the no warranty part is scaring me so much.....1000$+ is not a small amount afterall, here in India its almost my months salary......

Dentlord 03-17-2010 04:14 AM

I wouldnt spend the money on an ebay es, too much chance that it has been beaten down already, or they were binning them and selling the losers.

Just my opinion

Splave 03-17-2010 04:39 AM

^ this

RomDominance 03-17-2010 04:40 AM

Hey Banik, don't do it bro. We are goin to start buying and cycling thru these retail chips shortly, just waiting on the stepping change or some retail results from outside the team. Deals on a retail gulfy for you are less than a couple of weeks away, from people you can trust, prices lower than retail, and a verified chip. Just be patient and pm me if necessary.

kikicoco1334 03-17-2010 03:23 PM

that's only $1100!
that is much cheaper than what i was thinking haha

MaadDaawg 03-17-2010 03:32 PM

Newegg has been going up since the intro, up to 1299.00 now and ya gotta buy a Rampage II extreme too ... bastards

Microcenter at 999.99

Heard tales that these may be interim stepping and some patience may be in order though :scared:

Edit: ummm... $24.50 to fill a 35L  that's after tax and all is included... think I'm getting a good deal :cool3:

Witchdoctor 03-17-2010 11:51 PM

Duke said he was paying $ 1.06 a liter so I would say you are getting a heck of a deal bro ....

I agree .... if they come out with DO like stepping for this chip all the early adopters could find them selves getting smoked

Chuchnit 03-18-2010 02:11 AM

Here is a retail result. Not to bad for the first session. :)

I guess 5.7-5.8Ghz is certainly not bad when it comes with the assurance of warranty, :D

Chuchnit 03-18-2010 03:40 AM

It certainly isn't bad. Nice clock increase over 45nm generation. The problem is the 6.5+ ES results out there. :( Rumor has it though that there is a better batch coming out to retail soon. I think Supes mentioned this.

Gunslinger 03-18-2010 03:54 AM

If my Server '08 32 bit would have played nice, that would have been about 51K or so. The chip ran well with only voltage adjustments until about -145 or so, going to do some more bios tweaking with Shamino's settings to see if it drops lower.

ReverendMaynard 03-18-2010 04:03 AM

Looks like a winner gun, nice work.

I'd be more worried about picking up those 4 marks in 06 to take a 2-GPU WR :P

Dentlord 03-18-2010 04:38 AM

This is encouraging to see a b1 performing well!

ReverendMaynard 03-18-2010 04:48 AM

official stamp of approval requires a Vantage run :)

Witchdoctor 03-18-2010 07:25 AM

All 3D @ 5.8 would mean a refresh of all cards though ....

Vantage would be freaking insane boost to be sure though............

Man ..... Hmmmm.... how to justify dropping 1K on a chip ..... ?????

Just get really hammered and do it.

Idk man.... I'm waiting for something else to drop out of nowhere for 1/3 the price of the 980. To be sure this will not be the only 32nm x58 chip

Splave 03-18-2010 07:57 AM

maybe a locked multi xeon at like 25 or 27? would be sick

FACE 03-18-2010 08:23 AM

Yes indeed. Xeons tend to perform well. A good locked multi 32nm would rock my socks

First run at it on SS and win 7 64.
What was really strange is in win7 32 and XP i only get 8 threads not 12. I do get 12 in Win 7 64. Any thoughts on that?
I had to go and get the newer version of cpu-z to be able to show the mem.
Now after switching my OS back and fourth all of a sudden the dam board wont boot and it keeps hanging on 7F. I cant get into the bios at all. I pulled it off the phase and Im gonna let her sit a while and see. I ahve no clue what 7F is.

Gutterz 03-18-2010 02:32 PM

"7F post error check. Check post error and display them and ask for user intervention"

Thats what the book says.

That pifast score is the same as my 920 at 5Ghz in XP. If you can run in XP. Im curious on how it does

GFDuke 03-18-2010 02:43 PM

Posting now. problem is gone. No sense in benching xp whe only 8 threads are showing.

EDIT: Tried the retail win7 32 instead of tiny 7 and 12 cores are showing

Splave 03-18-2010 03:07 PM

thats really weird, Im beginning to think tiny win7 is clown shoes. I have weird errors with it, maybe just too stripped

GFDuke 03-18-2010 03:39 PM

I agree Splave there is something wrong with tiny 7.

Another pc mark Gold. :) I'm not sure why i got a Global Gold though. This bot is messed up or i messed up . idk.

ReverendMaynard 03-19-2010 05:20 AM

this is getting interesting....can't wait for some subzero from you lads.

Splave 03-19-2010 05:55 AM

4.8ghz nice on water

rickss69 03-19-2010 05:38 PM

If anyone decides to get rid of their 980 HSF I would like to buy one for my micro-atx build.

MaadDaawg 03-19-2010 05:51 PM

Way to go Dukey... Global Gold Cup dude :clapping:

I'm thinking the bot's screwed up too.. somehow a submission of mine earned me a -0.17 boints
