Yeah.. Having sent to the shop in Ft. Knox Ky and he's in GA. Pretty close. I asked for extra padding.... the guys at the UPS hub here are assholes.
|
Drivers are not much better. I have seen them, when they show up at a stop where they have a bunch of packages to deliver, they toss them out the back of the truck.
Fx for yah man. Can't wait for the showdown. :) |
Ordered the temp reader from suntek. $25 and an extra probe. Thinking about it now I should have bought another 7100 so I could mount it... :leghump:
|
For those that have not seen the tet/jld7100 temp controllers, they are pretty sweet. And if you actually read the directions, they're simple to set up....
$31.50 HERE |
Update...
OM-effing-G...... UPS is playing with my emotions. At first, quantum view was telling me the 2nd (today), then through black magic went back in time and rescheduled it the day before original scheduling to a delivery date of the 5th. Now it is saying the box is in the Louisville hub now. Typically that means I will have it tomorrow. Something tells me that it will sit at the hub all weekend and I will have it Monday... :argh::poopinghorse::doublefinger: |
dude, hope the gods intervene and you still get it today .. would suck having to wait the weekend
I've got an SD SS, and you're gonna love it  Unless UPS ran over it or something  :taunt: Seriously, plug it in, and go below.... so much easier than dice or ln2. Wish I could afford a good cascade :D |
It's here, it's mounted, it's cold.... pics to come.
running it every few minutes to get her settled.... then I am on for some 3d love TONIGHT!!! The mounting hardware seems to be a bit off, but something like that is nothing to boo-hoo about.... so far it seems to be a good unit. Oh, and he packed it nicely... it came bolted down in a wooden crate. I still have the crate bottom under it FTW. Results to come! :Hi: |
Awsome bro .....
Can't wait for the results .... big congrats ............ |
cmon its been 55 minutes lol
|
LOL, I know, I know.... Gotta let it sit more I'm thinking.. First time I fired her up she hit -45.... now it only hits -38 and holds... I've only been running it for a couple minutes at a time...
Hopefully nothing is wrong with it. Only time will tell... |

Hi mate congrats on your unit! I remember my first Cryo-Z I did a lot of damage back then. It's normal the differences in temps, it really depends on the ambient temps too, my SS would display higher temps on the evap when it was COLD here and displayed lower temps when it was WARM. But it would hold the same load no mater what. |

Well thats my theory anyway LOL |
Are you sweet talking it like its a lil dog? Telling her your going to pimp her out in some OCA swag. Cuddling her in your arms showing her some luv? I would be lol

When i fire it up it's kinda making a noise once it gets to -38. It's coming from the compressor. I have no clue what it is. Maybe I'm messing with it too much too soon? |
Big girls need luvin too lol.
What kind of noise? Ticking noise or a buzz? |
Clicking.... pretty spaced out... first click at -38... but it's not just a click.. I described it to someone as the sound at the beginning of Snoop Dog's "drop it like it's hot."
No clue... bad compressor? |
The clocking tongue sound from what he told me via IM and not rhythmic Otherwise (my compressor experience is fridges.. they make noise its bad... and air compressors. they all make noise and a tsk tsk tsk as it tops off seems normal) |
lol.
My experience is window A/C's an mine click, when no clicking present the compressor isnt on. An thats on both of my units. Maybe its just noisey. |
I think I may just need to let the oil settle a little longer.... :Dizzy:
|
My A/C units hold -30 in resi but if my room temp goes up cause of the heat that it puts out. It will be -25. So I always got cooler air via window fan blowing on the HX an it helps.
|
Ok, so how dumb would it be to blast cold air across the condenser and compressor? Still though, it was tuned much colder than what I was getting. I'm going to let it sit over night and see what the morning brings.... If it gets worse, then I have a leak... if it gets better, than I was just impatient...
|
Thx for the youtube video, now I hear it..........
Keep us updated Pat. |
All seems well this morning.... flipped her on and she jumped to -30 in seconds. After that a minute to -40. These are unloaded temps, but they are "mounted" temps. When the chip is running at 4.8 i see maybe (MAYBE) a +1 degree change.
Strong indeed.. Edit.. just touched the compressor, and it is running much cooler as well... Benching begins today! |
good to hear that its better.
|
Awesome news pat, was getting bummed there for a sec.
|
Yeah I was too. It still makes that noise every once in a while, but I think it is from the temp difference at the top of the compressor.... I'm sure it is normal, and with never having a 3/4 hp compressor next to the desk before I'm sure to see and hear a few new things...
|
I'm so glad to hear it all turned out well brother. I was sweating a little for you last night.

Great to hear its working better, there is nothing like having a solid SS unit to make benching fun and easy!!
Enjoy :D |
Great news bro ... crank it up and load it ...
Those are the only temps that mean anything ........... 1024M will tell the story in two minutes .... Bring it ////////////////// :keeporder: |
might have to sig this
"It's a little heavy for that... but what the hell, might even lay the sausage on it..." anyways is the noise sound like if you put a drop of water on a super hot pan? MY first ever unit from sneil made this noise. It was overcharged, im sure its nothing though. The temps will tell, little compressor noise is fine :) |
funny you describing the sound like that Spliggity, my SS made the same sound, but then again it ran at 36C+ at the evap head on wprime LOL.
|
very interesting
he walked me through taking some refrigirant out, I took too much out then had to add some propane and then it was fine. /thread jack |

If it happens while no load is on the unit, and only a little then its not to bad. But if its still doing it while a heavy load is on thats bad and shows it is very over charged. Does this unit have an accumulator on it ? I wil have to look back at some pic's to see if you show it. Ok I see now, it does have one installed. A accumulator is designed to catch liquid refrigerent in the suction line before it gets to the comp. You should be getting no flood back at all with one of these. |
this makes sense... did your compressor get really hot? mine starting to cook, and the coil coming from the condenser as well....
Coming from GA to KY might be the problem... elevation difference maybe? |
something to take into account as well for sure
Yeah compressor was pretty hot if I recall, had to add a fan to the backside (was in a smaller encolsed case though so that did help the situation) |
Quote:
What makes them do this ? To much pressure or operating in a vaccum which is prolly the case. This is done at times to get much better load handling but at the cost of reduced life span of the comp. All comps get hot, that is not a problem, but super hot means its running in a vaccum, I think anyway. My SS from Jinu and Kals 2 stager, never make flood back noises and make almost no noise while running. Kals 2 stage comp does get warm and a fan on it is all it needs. Its nothing to worry about tho as its in temp range. But the loudest thing on his 2 stager is the first stage fan on the condensor. Metal fan blades tend to make more noise. |
Hmmm... might need to bleed it a little then and see what happens.... If that doesn't work... I'll have it leak tested.
Running in a vacuum does what? How is that corrected, at least enough to get this thing running better? |
