Its hard for me to rate this stuff as two of the teams have access to all the hardware they could ever want or need, all they have to do is ask and they get what ever they need. I am not talking about for just this event, but for all the time leading up to this.

Where as our guys did what they did on there own accord, with no manufacture support what so ever.

So saying that they came in X place to me means nothing. They came in 1st place on everything imo and from what I hear showed the most porfessionalizm out of everyone.

Congratz Team OCA !!

GD! son! why can't i reg on that site!

2chesapeakes 04-12-2010 05:28 AM

I just want to know did someone really get caught trying to pocket a CPU during the event?

I didn't see it, but I was told that a bencher (not from OCA) was seen on camera pocketing one.:thumbdown:

No Chew*'s CPU and board got moved to another table and he was freaking out about it.

Day 2 was limited to same platforms and benches however you could use any other hardware you wanted including the Asus provide hardware.

Neuromancer 04-12-2010 06:18 AM

Thanks for the update Planet.

Well I dont know much about competitions, aside from lack of ln2 and poor camera angles I thought it was pretty interesting.

Jor-El 04-12-2010 06:20 AM

^^ Thanks for clearing that out Planet, your post should be on Asus main page!

karmakazi 04-12-2010 06:42 AM

Thats the fun of competitions, completely unknown outcomes :) I see live comps as a fun sidenote to competitive benching. Since the skills of the overclockers are emphasized less and the luck of who gets the best chip is what takes a comp.

Great job to everyone involved! Were there any prizes? Did anyone get to take home a shiney new RIIIE? :D

Hondacity 04-12-2010 07:23 AM

Many thanks to Asus guys namely:

Brian and Eric for organizing an awesome event. you guys didn't crack under pressure.
Andrew Wu ( Motherboard - Product manager) R3E performed flawlessly on our chips. Impressive boards.
Paul ( Graphics cards ) - you have great plans. I hope to give more feedback.
Moderators - Donald and tallredhairddude thanks for the enthusiasm and questions...
CharlesW - wintech - dude send me one of your converters please :D

Many thanks to sponsors as well namely
Ocz and their ssd's.
Antec for their awesome power supplies... Mark(antec) thanks.
Intel

thanks to Assassin48 and his brother...thanks for the support Team OCA members FTW

its not the cpu...

its the r3e and splave and v2-v3 and my secret sauce....two different setups(two cpus two mobos)...both 6.5ghz+ on the 980x

asus did an excellent job with the r3e.

karmakazi 04-12-2010 07:44 AM

Hey honda YGPM&PP (pm and paypal). Please gimme a heads up. Your inbox is full

Jor-El 04-12-2010 07:46 AM

So for now the boards to have is Giga's UD9 and Asus RIIIE, I wonder is eVga is planning their 980x board or not in their plans...

i'm not sure what the difference is...between the top3 boards at the moment. but based on observation and some key notes.

so.. if you're pushing 1.8v-2v....even if your vregs are rated 600w(ie classified series x58 & p55)

thats pushing 300A @ 2V max....

lets say 2v with 12 threads...wprime @ 7ghz... vregs are ok...but what about the quality of the voltage supply?

the quality of the (vreg)power is very significant especially at very high frequencies...

when Francois( intel ) mentioned some notes bout coldbugs....."hi -k" ......
current and cold are the major differentiators in clocking....and intel's cpu quality.

please read http://www.intel.com/technology/silicon/high-k.htm

r3e is using the best capacitors i've seen on any x58 mobo.....

so its really worth considering...

I think we did damn good, was sad to loose to an imaginary category of WR p55 vantage and 06 score lol

IT wasnt chew, I heard it was someone else but Im not going to say who.

We won an rIII E, 980x, xonar d2x, OC station, 5870, antec tpq-1200, ozc vertex 120gb.

I didnt like that people where talking shit about me personally the first day, the XS guys saying I flagged 60 scores in one day on hwbot and that I benched with chew and flagged scores that we got or something like that when I have never met any of them.

Also I guess there was alot of heat on our backs for saying we were going to win on our home forums or something  Just teenage girl bullshit. Didnt deserve that I was fucking nice to everyone.

Assassin48 04-12-2010 01:21 PM

Congrats Guys on the prizes

Yea i saw first had the drama on the second day, poor sportsman ship in my book

Yeah but honestly what you expect anything else. They have been benching forever and now a new kid comes around and steals the show. :D Congrats on all the achievements. It was great to see you guys benching. Now one question? Is any of this won hardware going to make its way back to the forum. Maybe a little contest? :D ;)

FACE 04-12-2010 01:33 PM

Splave... Why oh why didn't you just slam someone... rofl.. I kid.

You should have told them if they would post scores right they wouldn't get flagged. If I were your size, I would have been giving all around wedgies.

Oh, and if you hit a clock like that again on a live stream.... there had bettered be a finger-snap-point and a "boo-yow" out of you buddy...

EDIT: alright I had to delete that post. I'm pissed for your grief brother. Congrats on the WR, it'll be first of many no doubt.

It was fun to watch you guys tearing it up. Made me go fill up the dewars today.

That's a nice haul of loot. Full of stuff people actually want.

Inspiring work. Soldering iron is heating up right now and I see a few pirate flags on the horizon.....

IDK WTF is up with all the harsh shit flying around but I'm gonna remind our guys that no matter the situation, right or wrong, we'll keep the class act up around here and elsewhere. Bridges are burning that don't need to be burnt.

Just so there's no mis-understanding, consider these words to have the weight of an elephant.

Mr.Scott 04-12-2010 03:04 PM

Just wanted to say congrats to all three of you guys. You did well. I watched for a good majority of both days.
On a side note: Splavious Maximus, you're freakin' huge dude, and you bench like a machine. When I grow up I wanna be just like you.

its just about the oldest f1ee on the planet lol, charcoal black on the inside :) temp will drop on it very fast due to the nucleation points created by the massive copper oxide coating :) its what i call a seasoned pot and it would have done much better but robert insisted on cleaning the thing for the first time EVER after many years of ln2 loving... :(

V2-V3 04-12-2010 09:04 PM

ok now i have the time to type about the event on the interweb :)

so......

Hot diggity dawg!!! the 3x3 oc summit was the most intense and incredibly exciting event i have ever been to!!!! better than any other oc contest or LAN party or Concert, heck it was better than overclocking with Honda (hehe your still fun to bench with) the venue, staff, presentations and sponsors all provided a complete experiance that i have never seen heard of nor experianced!!! way beyond my expectations!

ASUS thank you for giving me and oca the opertunity to attend this event and thank you for giving us the opertunity and place to proove our selves as the overclocaholics we are. Brian, eric the way you structured this event and the way you handled every little detail i know you will be successful with may more events, a lot of unpredictable things happend but you delt with them the best you could. you made do with what you had and most importantly held an unpresidented asus event and impressed the hell out of me and a lot of people!!!! I want to thank you and the staff for all the time effort and resources you put into this event! your worked your a$$es off and to boot didnt even get paid, you chose to donate your time for us overclockers to do what we love! ASUS your staff was impressivly helpful beyond belief, your staff was entirely generous and friendly, paying unpresidented attention to our needy overclocking ways. I must congradulate you for a job well done, this event is an accomplishment that anyone could be proud of.

Honda,
Thank you for the endless hours of benching, without you i would not have been able to stay awake when benching 40 hour weekends :) I dont know how u do it! you were awsome I think if you had enough LN2 on day one you would have taken the P55 records on day 1. You held an impecable composure thoughout the event and were entirely dedicated to breaking some P55 records aginst all ods!! never did yo give up or move on! i am prowd of you and thank you for attending, you are a busy guy and it ment alot to have you there benching alongside us.

Splave,
I was not sure what to expect from you having never met you in person I wondered what might happen and how well we will work togather as a team. there were some people who gave me doubts about you and what i had gotten myself into. Upon meeting you it was very apparent that you are a gental giant! still i would not mess with you :) after benching the first day and seeiing how well we worked together and what we were capable of doing in such a short time I knew I picked the right team members. Allen, you have gained an immense amount of respect from me, holding your composure through the entire event and not giving in to irellevent things. I am very impressed by your benching capabilities and think you have even more untaped potential waiting. Congrats on the 6.66GHz i7-980x That is a killer score, great job smashing the world record! I gladly welcome you to bench with me any time!

Assassin:
buddy you drove along ways to help us out and give us the support we needed to stay in the game, I wish we could have spent more time togather and hung out after the event. You and (your bother?) did us a huge favor by driving out and picking up misc hardware and doing some shopping. its a real killer to fly to an event, you loose a lot of small important things and forget to pack a lot as well. I loved how you stayted and chatted it up with the members of oca when we were too busy going for records. I was glas some one could get the word out during the event :)

TO ALL OF OCA:
Lets keep pushing, bench harder, bench longer and reach out to eachother like never before. Let us show courtesy, sportsmanship and frientlyness to all. Togather we will dominate and as a community that stands on its beliefs we must have morals to guide us in the right direction that ensures we do to others what we wish them to do to us. we must show the world how we overclockaholics do it. I want to thank all of you for your support and friendship. It is because of this community that i did not give up my passion of overclocking to the DRAMA of life.

it never changed....and i don't think its an f1ee..it couldn't hold temps right....2 cores @ 1.8v and the temps rise fast.....get another pot.

cooling the pot? its still fast..i can drop it to -130c very fast...holding temps is the issue with your pot...good thing you used the new pot..it held your gulptown ok..

It was no problem, hopefully we will get another chance so we can all meet up and chat someday.

I think they thought i was going to steal something tbh, most of them were just staring every time i got up, that's why i mostly stayed by our tables

It was a fun event even as a spectator, really glad i was there. It was my first sponsored event ever so thank you guys for letting me attend

Splave 04-13-2010 01:53 AM

Was def a fun weekend, awesome to meet you travis and robert and juan :)

I think we had fun and worked well as a team. Def think we should have strategized a little more and def only 2 setups next time so we can help eachother more and save on ln2. Other than that, had an amazing time, met alot of great people.

I think when we started clocking on water at the end it really showed the spirit of OCA. We will clock anyway possible and not roll over or quit for any reason.

Thanks again travis and robert, you're good guys. We were very respectful to everyone there, Asus, Intel and antec and we helped with a majority of the cleanup :) The OCA way.

V2-V3 04-13-2010 03:46 PM

Yes We burned through our ln2 entirely too fast on the first day, but the important thing is that we learned and executed successful conservation the second day :)

I believe we represented the spirit of OCA in the best possible way

We took second place with one point, a world record in CPUz for the X58 platform on an Intel i7-980x

what were the p55 06 an Vantage scores? What they were before?

Splave 04-14-2010 01:37 AM

Im bitter about that but it is what it is. Im thinking the plan behind that was it would be easy to get the 06 and vantage WR on p55 because who the fuck runs 4-way crossfire with a clarkdale setup rofl! and asus wants WR's.

If I can get my hands on the maximus, I will personally invest in 3 more cards to take it away from them :)
