nice visual sir!

Dentlord 05-11-2010 10:17 AM

Suh-weet!

Ill be testing this out tonight!

I ran it on my gaming rig, and as soon as I launched it, temps on my 285s went from reading 53C to 116C, so should give some nice headroom, down to -100s or so ;)

awesome. if you can, let w1zz know you're testing it out, I'm sure he'd appreciate the feedback.

on paper it should, I really hope that it works out! what do you think 1200-1225?

Kal-EL 05-11-2010 10:53 AM

Where are you putting in on your hdd first?

GFDuke 05-11-2010 12:10 PM

Forgive me I am not understanding this at all eiher.

Hondacity 05-11-2010 12:20 PM

its for tricking the temp reading into nvidia's controller....

this will be epic......

if it works for the gtx4xx and gtx2xx and gt80 series....it will help alot :D

i'm sure evga's group will find this.....and integrate it to evga precision :D

I'm willing to bet that Shammy makes a hard mod on a non-reference PCB :D I wish...

Hondacity 05-11-2010 12:41 PM

i'm thinking shammy might have disabled the temp return sense on one of the controller pins..

If I can go cold yeah 1200 ... I think that might be about the limit though, that was what shammy and Vince were running iirc.

I just put it in my programs folder with all my other crap, then created a shortcut on desktop and added the /fixcoldbug switch.

Dentlord 05-11-2010 03:23 PM

Ok nothing good to report ... cold slow still starts exactly at -68 with or without the new gpu-z altering the temp sensor.

Ohh this sucks! I was hoping this would be the fix. Well nothing goes over a good old hardware mod. :ohcrap:

Kal-EL 05-11-2010 04:19 PM

Bah, had me hopes up real high too :(

Patch 05-11-2010 04:34 PM

bummer......I was getting excited..

PizzaMan 05-11-2010 04:34 PM

The 8316 uses the VR10/11 VID tables. So, the VID mod will not to be hard to figure out.

The assignments will be similar to the VID table I mapped out for Patch's Lightning.
Kinda like this.

If someone has a DMM and will do some measurements for me, I can help map the VID table for this IC to. I need another pic of the IC and surround resistors.

Dentlord 05-12-2010 04:27 AM

Well all hope is not lost for the CB fix, seems Afrokalle used it and was benching down to -150c ??
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=250634

Ill try it again today, maybe Im a retard.

Splave 05-12-2010 04:50 AM

dent you are running gpu-z minimized while you bench right? or does that not matter

I tried it with and without it running. It really shouldn't have to be though, since the "fix" stays applied even after a soft restart.

I don't have much ln2 left but I will try again shortly.

PizzaMan 05-20-2010 06:15 AM

Hope this helps :D

Pizzaman are you NapalmV5? Not trying to be a jerk here but when you copy and paste stuff from the net state the credits and/or link to the original thread/creator

*ignore this msg if you are Napalm here on OCA.

V2-V3 05-20-2010 06:36 PM

check the firmware, I believe its a failsafe issue with the internal temp diodes

Chuchnit 05-21-2010 03:45 AM

Why did Napalm remove the SMD caps for his cap mod? I thought the SMD's were for tiny spikes and the regular caps took care of the big spikes? Am I wrong?

Dentlord 05-21-2010 04:47 AM

No caps removed, there are only pads where he put them.

Gotcha. Are you gonna replace your cap mod with some high end caps and try again? Mouser is probably 1 day shipping to you. Warehouse is in TX. By high end I mean actual PC caps. The good ones are only like $1-1.25 a piece. ;)

No, I'm not NapalmV5. I'm just sharing a pic that was shared with me. I never claimed I worked the mod.

Though, I'm am interested as to which pin on the IC the mod point is connected to since there is no FB on this IC.

Nah, my wall right now is the CB and OCP. If I can get rid of both of those, Ill worry about caps again maybe.

The newest gpu-z has a command line option to remove ocp I think, need to find out what value to write and try it out!

GFDuke 05-22-2010 11:09 PM

Anyone tried the new GPU-Z? Suposedly a coldbug fix. I'm out of juice till thursday,

http://downloads.guru3d.com/GPU-Z-0....load-2544.html

Benchzowner also has something going on with a cracked Smartdoctor. I'm not sure what.

benchzowner proly used nbitor 5.6 and edited the bios..

gpu-z fix doesn't work at all for me. I tried the newest build last night where you can set the ocp as well, nothing helps in the slightest.

Looks like Zowner used bios hack to remove ocp/ovp and raise voltage limit, then hacked Smartdoctor to set volts. We can do all this already with the new E-leet (or the new gpu-z) and the unlocked Precision.

I paid for and got the new NiBitor and there is nothing at all useful that I could find, there are two options that allow you to edit voltage tables and clockrates for Fermi, nothing else.

Chuchnit 05-23-2010 05:52 AM

Anybody got to try Bill's BIOS out? When is the CB mod gonna be released?

THAT is the key ... cold slow is killing these cards under ln2, until this is fixed nothing else really matters.

Well Andre has it, but good luck on getting him to share.

Splave 05-23-2010 07:19 AM

I asked him nicely 2 weeks ago lol no response, he always says just ask me and I will tell you in all his threads but w/e

In all fairness, he prolly isn't "allowed" to share. That didn't stop him from showing GT 6 months early though. :taunt:

HITandRUN 05-23-2010 04:35 PM

I got involved with the VP of the Chill Semiconductor that produces the PWM on the new 480 and asked for the full datasheets but after a few emails back and forward I quickly found out that I was not the first one asking for that. ;) TIN and I have been talking back and forward about it and he said if I have the datasheet we can figure this thing out in a day. Well the VP said he will think about helping us after I told him we are the NUMREO UNO in the USA baby! :D :good: See if this will help him a little bit to make up his mind. He also said that the previous talks always ended up in angry Overclockers calling him names etc. so he is not that eager to help our group. Well I apologized for the behavior of the community as well as for the earthquake in Haiti and the WWII and hope for the best! ;) :D

FACE 05-23-2010 04:38 PM

Good stuff H&R.....

OCA p.r. action to the max!

awesome stuff

tell him we've invested in the new nvidia gt4xxx series...and asus R3e which also uses chil regulators/drivers

would be great to see what design factors they have...

Nice PR work, man!

Very interesting, the comments about anger and name calling.

Splave 05-23-2010 06:38 PM
