Glad to see the prices are within reason. I won't be able to play out the gate but my plans are about a month after release. Can't wait. 2600k definitely FTW. 2500k looks to be nice too and cheap.

Hondacity 11-27-2010 05:54 AM

wait for the z68...

Chuchnit 11-27-2010 06:06 AM

^is this chipset confirmed other than the one leaked slide? I sure hope so because I'd love to build one of these for a gamer.

Neuromancer 11-27-2010 11:41 AM

Sick! Guess Intel really wants to move some parts :) IF that is true pricing, awesome.

Is anybody else watching this thread? Such a waist of good silicon if they don't have x65 or so multi on retail BIOS's.

OC Maximus 12-17-2010 05:24 AM

Hopefully its a bios maturity issue and things will get better as time goes on.

OCM

I tried to quit looking at anything Sandybridge as I won't be having the funds now for it anytime soon. :Dizzy:

Hi there

Right guys myself and our technical guys have spent the entire weekend and this morning in discussions with Intel regarding the alarming amount of reports of Sandybridge CPU's dying and have been conducting our own testing as have Intel to find out what is a definite no no.

Sandybridge maximum safe voltages

Core Voltage - Not recommended too exceed 1.38v, doing so could kill the CPU, we therefor recommend a range of 1.325-1.350v if overclocking.
Memory Voltage - Intel recommend 1.50v plus/minus 5% which means upto 1.58v is the safe recommended limit. In our testing we have found 1.65v has caused no issues.
BCLK Base Clock - This is strictly a NO, anyone using base clock overclocking could/will cause damange to CPU/Mainboard. (Set manually to 100)
PLL Voltage - Do not exceed 1.9v!!

Processor - Basically we recommend customers not to exceed 1.35v to play it safe, all our bundles are set at 1.3250v or lower, any competitors offering bundles above 4.6GHz you should be enquiring as to what voltage they are using as we believe anything over 1.38v will limit CPU lifespan and anything over 1.42v will likely kill the CPU or severely limit its lifespan.

Memory - Intel recommend 1.50v plus/minus 5% which means 1.60v is the ideal safe maximum, but we have found in our testing all 1.65v memory is fine. We have also found most new 1.65v like Corsair XMS3 will run at its rated timings with just 1.50-1.55v which is well within Intel specifications. So people upgrading to Sandybridge you can still use your old DDR3, but we do recommend you run it at 1.60v or less. We are shipping most of our bundles which feature Corsair XMS at 1.50v-1.55v at rated timings. We've also discussed with Asus and MSI regarding voltages for memory and they also confirm in their testing 1.65v caused no issues with reliability.

Base Clock - To put it simple if you value the life of your components, do not overclock using base clock!

PLL Voltage - Again do not exceed 1.9v!

there was an asus mobo that was overvolting to 1.64v...even though it was set to 1.4v....weird

this was @ hardocp ....

only mobo i saw with voltage read points was msi gd-65.....

I am up in the air on a board.

But am hoping a Maximus Gene P67 makes an apprearance soon.

No big rush here but would like to get started towards the end of Janruary on this lan box

MC is out of on the cheap 2600K's right now so I will wait for them. I can get the case with the savings

If I go with a full size board the UD5/UD7 looks pretty dam sexy but expensive .... Waiting for some reviews to come out to see if a clear winner emerges. But would like to stay with a MicroATX if at all possible.

Hondacity 01-10-2011 05:55 AM

wd how much is the tax over there?

DrNip 01-10-2011 06:10 AM

Waiting until the end of Jan here myself on a mobo.

I believe tax is 6% there Honda.

Let em know if you want the second one ..... can ship just the chip in a 6 dollar flat rate or the whole thing. I think it will fit in one of those $ 10 flat rate boxes ?

Hondacity 01-10-2011 07:26 AM

oooooh nice....ummm whats batch?

Hondacity 01-10-2011 07:29 AM

here's the batch guide...http://hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?p=88487#post88487

if its a L040xxxx its sold :D

Witchdoctor 01-10-2011 07:32 AM

I do not know and they don't tell you over the phone.

Once I get there they will check and pull what everone you request.

That being said each Micro Center was alocated 10 2600K CPU for launch.

They were gone before they opened. I would imagine there will not be many to choose from this first month or two as they are gone as soon as they get them. Funny as I was the the first two on the list when they get more but there wer 40 poeple behind me to get on the list too ..........

It was sureal, like being in line at a Stone's concert back in the day .....

Hondacity 01-10-2011 07:48 AM

are you going today?

Witchdoctor 01-10-2011 09:08 AM

No,

They are going to call me, but to make sure I am calling them everyday .....

Let em know

Hondacity 01-10-2011 09:10 AM
